I was working on a fire in Colorado when this happened, we were a good 20 miles away and could hear it. We knew what was going on even without seeing it. My chief called sar and they had a heli deployed to the area. Mind if i get a link for the podcast?

In a rocky area this is a possibility, so think and check reports daily before beginning a hike, most want to see hikers all safe....so use precautions. this crew was lucky .....
