The Overland Track in Tasmania, Australia, is often considered one of the world's best multiday hikes. In early December of 2021 I completed the trail over five days and included side trips to Cradle Mountain, Mount Ossa, Mersey River Waterfalls & The Acropolis. With the main trail being immensely picturesque & relatively easygoing it's easy to why it's so highly regarded and such a popular hike.

Great video mate! A huge amount of effort in setting up those shots, well worth it. It's funny how similar the weather conditions were in the exact same spots as when I walked it. I think i'll always picture Pine Moor with low clouds coming in from the side. Top stuff. Cheers

Hi Josh, Agree with Rob. A huge amount of effort into placement of cameras and setting up. Really gave the story some focus and direction. I actually loved hearing all the natural sounds, I listened with headphones on and it triggered a lot of memories of that track and others in Tassie. Huge amounts of Editing, well done, I definitely rate this as one of your best videos. Question, did you get an interest into the Du Cane ranges area and hiking that? A lot of good areas to film and a lot of peaks to climb over a few days if you are keen. I'm heading there in a few weeks and I pray for the weather you got.

I did the OT solo on late May this year. It's like snowying crazy!!! Did Cradle Mountain & Mt Ossa side trip with crampons and C2 boots. Took the ferry and finished in 5 days. I prefer the no-music version. Keep up the good work! Strongly suggest you do the first half of the trip (cradle mountain to pelion west) in deep winter, bring crampons and climb Mt Ossa, different experience!

G’day Josh … another great video. Having recently done the full OT myself in great weather I was interested in your rating of the track - and you feel there are better multi day walks in TAS. Cheers Nigel, I'd rank Frenchman's Cap higher. It's hard yakka but it's like the Overland Track on steroids. Dense lush green rainforest, unbelievable views and Tahune Hut is unreal. The Three Capes is amazing as well but that's more of a coastal walk so is hard to compare the two. All the trails I've done in Tas have been pearlers and the Freycinet Loop is no exception. Hope it goes well for you!

@@dyong888 Yeah, I find I usually use about 80% of a battery per day. I didn’t have to charge any on this trip, only used the power bank to recharge the phone at the end of the day.

Josh I am really enjoying your videos, bingeing in fact. I am interested in your pack both brand, litreage and weight please? Also in your 3 peak video you had some dehydrated food that I could not read the brand, not feed the hike as I have bought some of theirs the other one Really excellent videos so thank you

Thanks Neil, appreciate it. The backpack I use is called the Atlas Adventure. It holds ~70 litres, weighs about 2.5kg and is designed to be a hybrid photography/camping backpack. Whilst it's super comfy, I've found that I mostly have my videography equipment on the outside of the backpack so I'm not really using it for it's intended purpose. I've recently purchased a much lighter and smaller backpack to cut down on weight so I'm that will be my new go to. Regarding the food, I think in that video it was just a standard back country cuisine meal? That'll be the last time I ever eat one of those meals - I've found Strive Foods & Go Native are much better options

Great video as always. Was it a wrong turn at The Acropolis or too sketchy? Missed out on the views of Mount Geryon :(

Yeah I know, pretty devastated about that. I actually figured out where to go after 5-10minutes of admiring the view. Ended up deciding it was too sketchy to climb with the camera gear and backpack so left it all behind and made what I thought was close enough to the summit. I could see the Labyrinth and all that but was too buggered to venture another 10minutes further up as I figured the view would be much the same as where I was. A bloke sent me a video of what I missed out on and yeah, not going to lie pretty bummed about not spending the extra effort. Ahwell, another excuse to go back in the future though!

Great video - blown away by the video quality in particular. Not to be that guy, but what profile did you shoot this in (current a7 looking to jump to m3)? Because this doesnt look like straight out of the box footage and I'm sure theres grading involved. Looks stunning man, good stuff.

Cheers Ben! I shoot it all with no profile. I’d say 70% of the shots have a very slight colour grade to them but it’s very minimal. Usually increase the saturation a smidge, decrease/increase the highlights/shadows depending on how the clip looks and that’s really about it

Hey Josh, looking into a garmin inreach mini. I've seen you use one almost religiously. Do you ever take a PLB aswell or do you think the inreach in australia is enough?

Hey Josh going to do the overland track in the coming weeks. Have you found the solution to blisters? I saw you had some toe socks before and was wondering if they help?

Ever since I switched to the Injiji toe socks I haven’t got a single blister. Cannot recommend them enough!
