Its funny you mention that not many people do the Emerald Necklace trail, most of it (at least up to Back bay Fens) is commonly run as part of BAA Half Marathon usually in the Fall

I think the vast majority of people still check out the individual parks instead. And apparently need an organized race to motivate them to check out half whole the trail haha.

I was actually surprised you saw turtles. I didn't realize they could be found in the waters of New England. Places like Austin TX they are way more common.
