Yes, agree with below, sometimes those trees are trail makers made on purpose. I live here in this gorgeous place - was just having wonderful NY style pizza on the square in Dahlonega last night. Originally a NYer, I know real pizza when I can fold it before eating it. We’ve lived in New York, New Mexico, but now in the Dahlonega area for 33 years. Yes, retire here! Can’t recommend it highly enough! The most perfect place to call home’. Some much more to do and see here. RV friendly and friendliest people in the world. Blue Ridge Mointains life!

Robert, I agree with you about how nice it is to see the Fall foliage and nature that the Mountains have to offer, but as much as viewers really like to see the views we have in Florida (especially South Florida)...I think people get used to seeing their own local all the time so THAT is why we are more impressed with the 'other' places. I sure like the waterfalls in the past few videos...next time you visit between Oregon and Washington check out Multnomah Falls (it has a double fall...it lands into a pool of water halfway down the cliff and then falls again). Keep up the great work.

If your Colorado is anything like my Chevy, you not only have to put the gear selector into "L", but then manually put it in "Tow/Haul" and select 1, 2, or 3rd gear by the + or - button on the gear shift handle. I drive a mountain road in NC and 1st gear does a great job of keeping the truck slow without using the brakes. I also think you bought the Colorado just because how you say "Colorado" makes the video that much more fun to watch. Love the accent! Enjoy the traveling man. If you end up coming through Spartanburg, SC, give me a shout!

The only thing in 2nd and 1st gear it revs up a lot. I'm afraid to damage a relatively new engine. That was a 25% grade too, maybe I was expecting too much.
@andrewevanoff1192
@andrewevanoff1192 5 жыл бұрын
This is done to improve fuel efficiency, often an a cost of sacrificing a lot of other performance parameters. Read what the manual says about engine braking while towing. The transmission should be switched to tow mode, if available. Also, sometimes you need to apply brakes for a bit before the truck activates engine braking subroutine. This varies by manufacturer though. BTW, Robert, don't wait for the recommended mileage for the first oil change. I would not wait for the FIRST oil change past 3,000 miles. Use quality full or 100% synthetic oil only. This also includes oil change in the rear differential (often very neglected). There will be a lot of wear particles in the first oil change, especially after towing the trailer. Oil is relatively cheap. Do this if you want the truck to last. Manufacturer's oil change intervals are far stretched, especially for towing. They will get you past the warranty but the manufacturer only cares about the declared operating expenses thus increasing the oil change intervals. Towing a trailer puts a lot of stress on the power train.

This brought back great memories for us!!! We shadowed/ supported our son from Maine to Georgia in 2019 on his entire Appalachian Trail thru hike with his "Tramily" (as they call their trail family) in our RV. You used a site at Amicalola Falls 3 spots away from the one we celebrated at for the completion of his AT Thru hike. While we didn't hike the actual AT ,of course, what an awesome chance to experience the roads, the trails and iconic sights, hikers and people we met along the way from June to November! It was epic adventure for us that our son asked us to make by sending us the book "Exploring the Appalachian Trail by RV, Well Sort of...." by Anita Hartigan a year before his trip. We were so lucky to hike small parts of the AT, and we saw towns we would have never explored if we hadn't been supporting him with supply meet ups, zero day overnights for the hikers, transportation and cook outs with IPA's and more!! Thank you for the video Robert!!

@@TravelingRobert that RV book was just a starting point, some info was vague or dated . When the detailed planning really began along the trail, the hikers gave us the book that they found too heavy to carry in their packs after awhile and downloaded the app on thier phones. It is like the AT Bible for many on the hike and gives every minut detail from life saving water sources to exact mileage to elevations to best meet up points to best ice-cream etc. Its call The AT Guide www.theatguide.com/. And its what they poured over daily for the best planning ever. There is a northbound and southbound edition. Enjoy!!!

Loved your video, Robert. Amicalola is one of my favorite weekend trips. If you visit after major rains the waterfall is really spectacular. I live about one hour south of there. Did you see the remains of the old cars and trucks under the stairs and up on the ridge? The gorge was a favorite dumping spot for moonshiners when the "revenuers" were in pursuit. They would roll their vehicles off the ridge to try to destroy evidence and some say to even fake their own deaths.

I love the mountains myself, I was just in the Arbuckle Mountains in Oklahoma today and went to Turner falls and took some great pics, I'm gonna have to go back and get some video, i wasn't expecting much and got quite a bit, I'm gonna have to check this place out after I move to Florida, my cousin lives in Dahlonega so I'll probably be there quite a bit.

When you’re back up in N GA, check out Brasstown Bald, tallest mountain in GA. Also a short hike, but a beautiful fall, check out Anna Ruby Falls. Take care!

Robert have seen the falls many times but it was in the 1976 to 1978 era a lot different now ,i lived on the back side of Lake Lanier on an island with a causeway to the island close to Dawsonville , if you get a chance go to Helen Ga looks like a Swiss village . Can't remember where but close to Amicalola is an original covered bridge over a small river beautiful my ex-wife was from Georgia have always loved the north Georgia area ,beautifully during the fall enjoy yourself .

A couple of suggestions for hiking 1 download the app all trails to better inform and second just a remainder on hiking policies. When someone ask you, how much longer, the answer always is, you are almost there, no matter how far they are. Saludos
