Great job Ivana! 6:35 that is basically my childhood there. Going through some thorny bush to go to a nearby river to look for some "lokan" or marsh clam. Then cutting some nipa palm fruit for snack. Going back home with few scratches is a must back then 😂
@khairulidris11684 жыл бұрын
Both of you complemented each other in every sense of the word.. The thorny plants is "rattan" and there amny types.. Rattan is used to make furnitures and walking sticks..Pulau Kapas is underrated when compared to Redang and Perhentian..but to me Pulau Kapas is much cheaper and more accommodating to tourists.. Love all your vblogs and this one is suberb.. Take care, be safe.

Terengganu is famous for Island hopping.. You can try Pulau Helang Tengah, Pulau Redang and Perhentian (near Kelantan border).. If you prefer something cooler..go to Kenyir Lake which is the largest man made lake in South East Asia..size is larger than Singapore Island.. You can explore a pre historic cave, waterfall, spend night on the boat hotel right in the middle of National Park..and you can experience swimming together with Ikan Kelah (Mahseer fish) at Kelah Sanctuary.. thousand of Kelah fish..I think there is butterfly island.. elephant sanctuary.. it is only 80 km from Kuala Terengganu..

Shorts and sandals are a no-no for jungle hiking in the tropics. That’s why you get scratches and bruises. Many plants and trees up the hills are thorny, some even with sharp leaves. Just for your info.

You should always have mosquito repellent when you venture into any patch of jungle in Malaysia. Dengue fever is a serious risk here. And carry a good supply of drinking water too as your body dehydrates really fast under the jungle canopy. It is many times more humid in the jungle. I used to go to Pulau Kapas some 35 years ago when there was nothing there. No resorts, no facilities. It's not a five star diving or beach destination but as you correctly surmised it's a nice little place that's very accessible. We camped there and snorkeled across from Kapas to Pulau Gemia. The water visibility at Kapas is probably about 20 to 25 feet at its best and maybe 10-15 feet at its worst. The best time for visibility and fish activity is at high tide. As you travel further away from the mainland and the river mouths, the water gets clearer. In the non monsoon months you might experience visibility of anything between 40 and 90 feet in Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian. These are the choice islands for scuba divers in the area. Heard you're headed for at least one of the above. Enjoy!!! They are beautiful. Oh before I forget. Bravo to Ivana. That was not an easy hike at all. If you're still in Kapas tomorrow and if you can get to Pulau Gemia. There is a rock outcrop at the back of Gemia. Used to snorkel there and the water takes a sharp drop from the beach. Venture around the rock and you might see a school of baracuda and if you're lucky, the huge Napoleon fish.

Yes Steve. May not be worth it to take the hike but it showed us one thing obvious and that is her absolute love towards you. The hike was easy peasy for you.
