What's your favorite hike in California that you've done, or want to do?
@nevadahiker66614 жыл бұрын
Favorite hike would be Yosemite Falls. One that I want to do is Twenty Lakes Basin from the Saddlebag Lake trailhead. I've actually wanted to do the Cottonwood Lakes trail too, but to get to Mount Langley!

I will send you an email today or tomorrow. Need to chat to see if we could work together Podcast stuff and Maybe articles in U Cast news letter. Have a great beautiful weekend here. Next week 110 in the Valley.🥵

My first real overnight backpack was here in October of 1974 … equipment included a North Face Kaksack, Oval Intention, and Superlight down sleeping bag. Also along for the ride were my Galibier Vercors, a Svea stove and Sierra cup from Sport Chalet in La Canada 🙂👍🏼 This trail became my standard day-hike acclimatization route before spending multiple nights at timberline. What a beautiful (albeit slightly overused) area of the southern Sierra.

HI from California. I met a couple from India at Iceberg Lake in 2019. I belive they were newly married and enjoying a short backpacking trip in the Mammoth Lakes area. Until you have been there, it's impossible to understand how huge the views are in the Sierra. I love it and am thankful that I get to set aside a week or two to enjoy it every year since I hiked the John Muir Trail in 2015.

My first experience in Lone Pine we were camping overnight, backpacked in, and I forgot my poles to my tent...... Made due with a lean two. So glad you are actually mentioning the rules to the area. I feel like a lot of campers/hikers forget to look out to respect nature, keep the trails clean and usable for years to come. So sad about all the fires in Cali. Hope they all get put out soon. We are getting a lot of the smoke in Utah. Gorgeous lake.

Ha that's amazing. I love that you still made it work as a lean two. So many fires everywhere this summer :(

California has so many beautiful parks. I have only been to Muir woods so far but am planning a trip to Joshua Tree. I love California and can't wait to explore it more.

I love Muir Woods. There are some other really great state parks up in that area also. You’ll love J Tree my favorite times there are in the winter and spring.

Beautiful video. I am in LA and have been thinking about whether it's possible to do Mt Langley as a day hike from here. My conclusion: it's pushing it because everything has to go exactly right. It's useful to me to see what the weather looks like this time of year in your video. Shorts for daytime but be prepared, it looks like.

A little late to the game...but great hiking area. I have not done that one but have hiked the Whitney Portals and some of the areas near there, even to an abandoned mine. The "hogbacks" on the way to Whitney are a fun romp as well. One could easily get lost in that maze of boulders!

drones in the backcountry? I did not know you could fly them there.

Certainly not in a National Park, probably not illegal in the Golden Trout Wilderness, tho

Yeah, definitely not allowed, and as somone who does a lot of hiking in the Sierra, not appreciated. Drones are not quiet/peaceful. But, hey what's more important a KZbinr or everyone else trying to enjoy the wilderness.

Awesome video Alice! Was this trip recent? I only ask because of the SQF fire nearby, doesn't look like it's affecting you guys out there!

Hi John, This was about 2 weeks ago, the fires had been burning for a few days but because they are on the West side, most of the smoke had been blocked by the mountains.
