Good information 👍 For hiking by end of July, where mountain will you recommend for beginners
@JohnHikerDolar4 ай бұрын
Mountains under 2000 meters in July are very hot to hike. So I would suggest going to bigger mountains. For beginners, Mount Mizugaki 2230 is good along side Mount Kinpu 2599 and Kitadake 3192, although not easy beginners can compete it.

do you have any recommendations for backpacking trips? 40 km+

In Tokyo? Probably not in Tokyo but I recommend Northern Alps traverse and Southern Alps traverse. The north traverse is more accessible than the south.

Great review! I am planning to be in Japan (Kamakura) during 5 days in the end of March and beginning of April. I will probably have one day that I would be able to spend for a day hike. Would you recommend one of those 5 hikes shown in this video or there are better options in Kamakura area? Please advise. Thank you.

Kamakura is a great hike as well. But It’s more of a culture hike than a mountain hike. If you are into Mountains and great views of Mount Fuji while enjoying cherry blossoms I would recommend Takao, Oyama, or Mount Tonodake. Takao has a lot of cherry blossoms, Oyama has a shrine and some cherry blossoms with Mount Fuji view at the peak. Mount Tonodake has great views of Mount Fuji 🗻

Shosenkyo gorge is a nice hike but might be far away from your accommodation.

I'm planning to hike/ride bicycle Kamakura itself, but I would also like to spend one day in mountains. So, i 'm looking for close by mountains with convenient commute from Kamakura. Mont Fuji view is big +. Hiking Mount Fuji at the beginning of Apr seems unrealistic :(. Thank you for these options. I will check which one is the best for me

Hi there, nice video!! Do you have a recommendation for a 2-4 day hike?😊
@JohnHikerDolar6 ай бұрын
Hi!! Thank you for watching. Well, There’s this hike in Chichibu Tama Kai National Park. Mt. Kinpu - Mt. Kobushi can be done in 3 days. But if you’d like to see the Alps. I would recommend Kamikochi to Jonendake.

Hi. Whether is allowed to setup tents for the night in those mountains? Or it is more for a one day trip hiking?. Thanks
@JohnHikerDolar10 ай бұрын
Hi!! Mt. Takao, Mt. To, Shosenkyo Gorge and Mt. Oyama are day hikes but for Mt. Kentoku you can definitely camp or stay at the emergency hut that I mentioned in this video. I hope that helps.
