You are very welcome, I'm happy you found it helpful. Parking and bathroom facilities are always my first concern when planning a hike and it's hard to find videos that address those concerns. I hope you have an enjoyable Tammany hike!

Have climbed that a few times. Once in the aughts sat at the top overlook, then climbed myself down to the outcrop and sat for a while, then climbed back up and sat down again. As soon as I sat down a black bear climbed out of the brush and strolled across the outcrop I was just sitting on (have pics somewhere). I'm thinking it was waiting for me to leave.

@@stevematthews4489 That’s a wild story! I’ve been there many times, hiked all over northern Jersey, carry bear spray and have never seen a bear. I’m sure they are always close by and just waiting for me to move on, like in your case. Thanks for watching and commenting. Great story!

@@mattfoley6082 yes, and a nice waterfall as well. We were back there to view the solar eclipse a few months ago. Nice little crowd up there for the show and a ranger was handing out free glasses.

Is that where Sunfiah pond is at?
@krohikinghappens5 ай бұрын
@@luciac.419 Sunfish pond is about 4 miles north of here. The Appalachian Trail goes north from the Rt 80 parking lot and runs along the pond.
@krohikinghappens5 ай бұрын
There's actual a couple of ways to get to Sunfish Pond. One way is via the AT that I mentioned. You can see that hike here: www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/new-jersey/sunfish-pond-via-appalachian-trail--3 Another is shorter and comes up from Mine Road via the Garvey Springs Trail. This one takes you to the north end of the pond which is way more scenic than the south end. www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-jersey/sunfish-pond-via-garvey-springs-trail

18 minutes 38 seconds is my best time from route 80 to the bedrock outcrop with a small area that may have standing water. In high school several of us from high school wrestling would do three intervals to make it a full morning .

@@bobzelley5100 That’s awesome! I’ll be proud of myself if I can break 30mins. Have you heard of the Tammany 10 Ultramarathon? It’s 10 laps in 10 hours and like 40 miles. That’s so crazy. I was hiking there once when they were holding the marathon.

Please, how long is the hike, round trip? Im going there this friday with some friends.
@krohikinghappens3 ай бұрын
Average time to hike up the Mt Tammany Trail (Red Dot) is about 1 hour or so, depending on how many breaks you take. So, 2 hours round trip if you go back down the same trail. If you go down the Blue Trail it's longer so maybe around 2 hours 20 minutes if you don't stop too many times. Have fun and thanks for watching.

That background traffic noise would ruin the whole experience for me. I live 5 miles from the White House and a walk in the park is not nearly as noisy as that. Other than that it looks very nice.

@@bebopkirby yes, definitely very noisy at the first lookout but it’s not too bad up top. Thanks for watching.

It's certainly really noisy down below and at the first lookout. I've been up there so many times now to be honest, I don't really notice any noise at the top anymore.
