Hiking Mount Wilson Trail in Sierra Madre, CA - 14 miles out & back // backpacking training

todays vlog will be about hiking mount wilson trail in sierra madre, ca!!
so me & Lauren are going on a big backpacking trip this summer, so to prepare we are trying to hike as much as possible before then. mount wilson trail is a great training trail if you have a backpacking trip coming up. it is a 14 mile out & back hike that gains about 2801 feet of elevation. the summit is at 5710 feet. at the top, there is a little cafe where you can get a snack, coffee, lunch or a scoop of ice cream (i definitely took advantage of that lol).
it has some great views if the SoCal haze isn’t too bad that day haha and you get a cool view of downtown LA. overall we really enjoyed this hike! it’s a pretty popular trail so be prepared to see quite a few people out there especially the boy scouts lol. definitely going to be coming back!

I like your video! I am hiking this next weekend with a friend. We are from Northern CA and driving down there for us to complete our very first SoCal hikes. I was curious about one thing, though. You said you gained about 2,800' of elevation from the start to the top. The route that we will be taking starts in Sierra Madre and gains 4,852' in 14.2 miles roundtrip (according to Alltrails). Was there some other trailhead you used that was higher up the mountain? Edit: I think I figured it out. You probably parked at Chantry Flats parking area, right?

That was definitely the Sierra Madre trailhead. The elevation gain stated in the video and description is incorrect. It is a fun hike or trail run depending on your cup of tea.
