Amazing to see the clouds hanging in the low lands. Always appreciate being able to walk in an area that has a history. Pretty awesome views up there! Yup, would have certainly stopped in my tracks with the sight of the cub and wonder where mom was! Thanks for the great adventure and hope you are having a great week so far! Bruce and Otis

Thanks, Bruce. And fortunately that bear was no longer a cub. If I had to guess it had to be close to 100 lbs, so definitely into it's second year for sure. Hard to get a bead on the size with the little GoPro, but easily as big and bigger than a full grown Labrador. Thanks for checking the video, bud!!

Amazing Mist hanging around Eric. Love history and pics included about the area. Awesome a coffee is waiting for you at the top 🤣. Apple Pie, yum. That little lizard looks like he is doing push ups. Oh no! No apple pie! Great panoramic views. They provide seating 🤣. Wow! its always great to spot animals along your hikes. That little Cub was very cool. 11:14 awesome fun pic. Thumbs Up, a great hike Eric. Have a great day.

Hey Jojo....so glad you enjoyed my little adventure. This is really one of my favorite local mountains to hike. And as you can see, so many wonderful things to see. Hopefully the cafe will be open when I make my way up there again in 2022. Thanks so much of taking the time. Take care. buddy!

Very nice video!! I loved the bear footage, the fence lizard doing "pushups", and the Western Whiptail slithering thru the brush at 8:31. That Poodledog Bush near the top of the trail part was really gettin' big! I did that exact hike in Feb 2019, and it was there but 1/2 the size and much less intrusive on the trail!

Oh man.....I love your knowledge on everything in our mountains, Brian. Your mind is like an encyclopedia! And you're right....the Poodle-dogs were really bad on that section of the trail up to the top. I was worming my way past them the whole way. Although, I've never had a problem with them or Poison Oak for that matter, but I'd rather not take my chances. The Whiptail's were out in mass too. With all the critters on the trail, I'm not going to lie, it was a darn good day. Appreciate you bud!!

Learned something new today. Every black bear I ever saw was always black. I didn’t realize that the Cubs could be brown. Those wild fires out there have been doing some serious damage. I’ve been watching a lot of news coverage about it and the aftermath of the fires. I got those local spots I go to several times a year as well but I often wonder if I should film it again. Good stuff my friend 🤙

Yep....and according to my research they can be found in brown, cinnamon, tan or blonde. Fortunately, there's no guessing game when it comes to crossing paths with a Brown (Grizzly) bear....we don't have them. And if you've got something to say, you might as well. A familiar hike that I'm shooting again might be new for a never subscriber too. If nothing else it's another journal entry in the life of Eric. Thanks dude and I hope you're enjoying Death Valley!

Great hike Eric! I have never done Wilson from this trailhead. I'll give it a go one of these days. Really neat to see the bear on trail. You better check your shorts! LOL! Looking forward to the next one. Take care buddy.

HAHAHA.....the bathrooms were locked, so I had to wait until I got down the trail before I did a proper inspection. Oh man, you need to definitely give this one a try. Like I said in this video and probably every other time I discuss this one, I prefer Chantry Flats, but this one is still fun. It's definitely a great training hike for sure. It's a climb. Thanks, bud...you have a great one!!!!

Great video, I did this hike on 1/20/22, trail conditions are in very good shape. Cafe was closed , maybe cause it was a weekday.

Thanks, buddy! Hope you had a great time, I know I always do. I believe the cafe doesn't open until around April and then also just on weekends. I was there on the 1st and the ice at the top made it pretty neat. Thanks for letting me know, John.

Too bad you did not get your pie in the sky. Seeing the little bear was awesome.

Yeah...hopefully next year it'll be open, but I'm not holding my breath. The little guy was an even trade though. I probably would have missed him if the cafe was opened.

haha....thanks, John. I have to be honest, I didn't snap that photo....google search. Pretty sure it was from last year when the fire rolled through though. Thanks for checking out the show.

@@ColemanOutdoors sadly you may get that opportunity yet . I have quite a few friends out that way sitting on that tinder bundle

@@johnburgin7478 haha....yeah. We've got plenty of fuel out there to burn those mountains into a brand new landscape. Fingers cross we can keep that from happening.

The chain link gate at the trailhead closed at like 5am or just when the trail is closed due to National Forest closures?
@ColemanOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Not sure it was closed for me, but that's certainly a possibility. Did you head up there today and it was closed at that time?
@Smashycrashy3 жыл бұрын
@@ColemanOutdoors i was planning on heading up Monday but I just saw another video where the gate was easily walked around. Thanks for posting your vid!

@@Smashycrashy haha...yeah I was going to let you know you could walk around it. Not sure why they'd close it though....us forest website doesn't indicate it's closed. Have a great hike!

@@ColemanOutdoors gate has been removed. Hike went great.

@@Smashycrashy glad to hear it! On a Monday...it must have been great!! Maybe they put it up there this year after the fire as a temporary deterrent.
