LOOKING FOR A VEHICLE UPDATE?? For the moment, unfortunately, I have no updates for you. Rest assured, the moment I have news, I will share it. And once all is said and done, I will explain how and why there have been so many delays in this process. It may yet be another couple of weeks before I have anything to report. Thanks for hanging in there with us!

A friend just ordered the new Jeep PHEV. The EV only range will handle her local commuting just fine. Looks fantastic, but the idea of spending $50k on a depreciating asset makes my teeth itch. That would buy a very nice used Subaru, several mods, and all the fuel that a person would ever burn the entire time they own it, with $$$$ to spare.

So wonderful to share a day with your kids...something I treasured and miss now. My kids and I hiked from our front door, out of base housing and right onto a logging road. Oregon offers so many outdoor activities...hiking, camping, fishing, crabbing on the many piers, sand dunes and just driving up and down the coastline was an adventure. There were so many spectacular vistas of the Pacific Ocean. Our favorite were the seal colonies near Bandon. We camped on a bluff overlooking the ocean under an old parachute as we couldn't afford a tent large enough for five. We used old wool blankets my dad kept from his Army/Air Force days. We shared great memories. Enjoy them while you can, Don. The empty nest comes sooner than you realize. Lucie is quite a character. Colin has grown taller. Wonderful day, beautiful hiking trail and shared with your kids...can't get any better.

I've been here my whole life and had never done this hike. Admittedly I'm not much of a hiker, but I had never felt too drawn to this spot primarily because it's so so popular. Really glad we did it though, the hike itself is truly lovely, not just a long walk through the woods to a destination. Beautiful, varied scenery and varied terrain to hike over. I actually enjoyed the hike in more than the actual pool itself. There were about 30 cars there when we arrived, on an early March Saturday that had rain in the forecast (we lucked out that they were wrong). In season, I think I would only try to do this midweek. It must be a madhouse on the weekends in later spring and summer. There are only a handful of parking spots at the trailhead.

Great job getting out there inspite of your vehicle situation and still enjoying our beautiful state with your family... A short story about my childhood hiking. My Dad was a stickler for not hiking with my hands in my pockets. His reasoning was if you lost your balance or tripped and fell you wouldn't be able to steady or catch yourself. I could tell it was a bit chilly and when I saw Lucie (sorry Lucie😊) walking with her hands in her pockets, I flashed back to my Dad telling me to "get your hands out of your pockets"😁... Thank you to you and your family for sharing with all of us👍😊...

You should do a kickstarter to help fund the new vehicle. I have seen sailing channels do this with great success. It might help if you pick a vehicle first. My last vehicle purchase was a Dodge Grand Caravan. I bought it from Enterprise Car Sales. My insurance agent told me that they often suggest buying vehicles through Enterprise. My experience with the purchase was extraordinary. After explaining that my wife was disabled and coming to their location was difficult, they went so far as to drive the car to my house, where we did the transaction. I don't know if Enterprise sells Subarus. You can search their website for that or other vehicles. The website lists the details, such as year of vehicle, make/model, mileage, color, etc. And no, I do not work for Enterprise or receive any recompense for referring people to them. I am just a very pleased customer of theirs. And I was doubly surprised when my insurance agent spoke highly about Enterprise Car Sales.

There is still a closure marked on the road sign, though that powered reader board that had been sitting there for years has been removed. When researching this hike, I read on the Willamette National Forest website that the EWEB project which has kept Trail Bridge closed was scheduled to run from 2017 through March 2021, so perhaps they are almost done!

@@softroadingthewest Awesome thanks for the info . Yea should be opening back up soon was hoping all ready , I’ve been waiting three years guess I can wait a few weeks . @softroadingthewest3 жыл бұрын
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by woop dedo :-) but we did do a livestream a few weeks ago to announce that the Forester had been deemed a total loss...is that what you mean? Before I got the Forester, I drove a '98 Dakota (2WD V6) as my daily for 11 years (also had an Outback as the family car driven by my now-ex-wife). I was surprised by what a reliable vehicle that pickup turned out to be for the very little I paid for it. I subjected that thing to some serious homeowner hauling abuse, haha. :-)
@bertkelly76503 жыл бұрын
@@softroadingthewest LOL! Back in the mid 80's I believe, Subaru had a commercial with people jumping in the air yelling, whoopty do for my Subaru! That always stuck with me. A tricked out newer 4wd Durango would be a good adventure rig I think. No one does those if you want to be different.
