I think a full Irish Breakfast has no calories and you either get on down the trail or take a nap!!! Love the partial John Muir quote! The scenery and music are just fantastic! Thank you Rev for taking us along! I stand corrected that was a full quote you gave! helps to read both parts!!! 🙂

Thanks again Derek. You’re so kind and encouraging. Whenever I’m having a “not so good day,” I think about the many people who would love to do what I’m doing, but can’t, for one reason or another. I know that one day I’m not going to be able to do what I’m doing now. So, what I can do today, I will and what I can’t do tomorrow, I won’t. “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” -Psalms 118:24

@@TheHikingRev Well said sir, take each day as it comes and do your absolute best. Whenever we think life stinks always have to remember that it could be worse and that we have to be grateful for what we have. That is a great passage and I really need to start reading the bible and going to church again. Bless you Rev🙏

Hi Rev. Breakfast looked great. I can see getting addicted to that. Great adventure once again. Don't think the sheep liked you or the drone. You made the ladies a bit nervous. @TheHikingRev I usually and willingly lose about a kilogram every 50 kilometres (1 pd for 14m) on a calorie restricted diet. I think I would gain that on potato farms and Irish breakfast. You're well fuelled, half your luck. Enjoy.

I'm enjoying these videos of your hike and have been following on and off since you started out. I'm sure you are probably past it now, but if not, but please take care between Moydamlaght and Glenshane forests and then also on the Donalds Hill section. Those sections are fairly wild country and lack much marking. The trail line to take can be seen in the base Alltrails app map however & you can use that + GPS if navigation becomes difficult. I really like those trail sections myself but keep seeing videos of thru hikers who do not due to navigation issues and terrain. A lot of people now also seem to skip Castlerock to Portrush, its a road section but fairly safe and decent walking due to low traffic and footpath - though marked as a Link section, Coleraine to Portstewart within that is a little dull however. Hope you enjoy finishing up to reach Ballycastle.
@TheHikingRev2 ай бұрын
Thanks. I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. I am finished now but I followed the advice you gave and I had flawless travel to the end. There were some dangerous road walking sections that I avoided and did not regret it. 😁
@dblair61862 ай бұрын
I'm really glad your navigation went well through the sperrins, if you made a clean run it will be the 1st vlog of that section I'll get to watch without someone looking fairly lost up there. There really are some pretty hair raising road sections involved, particularly the last section towards Ballycastle, I think the local council would like to route that along the cliffs but there are a lot of landowners to gain access permission from 1st!
@TheHikingRev2 ай бұрын
@@dblair6186 Thank you for your expert advice. Future IW walkers would do well to contact you for navigational logistics. Whatever agency (if any) is in charge of the Ireland Way needs to seriously consider rerouting certain sections of the trail and improving the signage in particular areas. I realize there are no “perfect” trails and you simply have to “take what the trail gives you.” That’s just part of the “experience.” But I feel that a lot of improvements have to go into the trail in order to make it appealing to more international thruhikers. IMHO.
@dblair61862 ай бұрын
I can only agree, I haven't walked the beara breifne sections, but there seems to be a fair amount of road linkage used. Similarly some of the Ulster Way sections used to spend more time off road on wild ground and also were -supposed- to be fully way marked until the 2009 re-do (it was an historic running joke to accurately complete sections however as on the old version all waymarking very often dissappeared without any warning). A lot of people were mildly disappointed with the Link/Quality sections approach and the abandoning of some off road walks and (supposed) full waymarking. The trail was also simplified at that point with more road covered very particularly in the west most sections near Big Dog wood and north of Pettigo. All of that was really done with genuine good intent to save the trail which was becoming difficult to complete as many access to land issues had arisen, and particularly since the trail originator Wilfrid Capper had passed away in 1998. Capper did seem to have a particularly love of getting people to randomly & unexpectedly climb through a hedge and briefly into field on the old version. I only really know my 'local' sections from weekend trekking, and am very very far from any expert, particularly looking at your channel!
