Wow... awesome...we are visiting Colorado next week...do you know any options for Pikes peak apart from driving or the rail......?
@TravelSzN3 жыл бұрын
oh have fun in Colorful CO! It looks like you can hike 14.5 mi from Crags Campground to Pikes Peak www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/colorado/pikes-peak-from-the-crags-trail or it is only 5.5 miles roundtrip if you park at the Devil's Playground area (still need to drive up near it) www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/colorado/pikes-peak-from-devils-playground

Before seeing this video, I hated to climb steps for hiking, but this is so awesome!! Going up the over 2,000 steps straight to the top of the mountain looks very challengable and the views looked down are so awesome! I've gone up almost 1,000 steps, though it was not straight up. I wish we have one in my nation, too. It was fun to watch!👍🤗

Oh wow. Neverending stairs. Nice Dolly Zoom Intro. This is an amazing hike, but probably good that there are so many bailout points. Looks like very much fun and it must be a great feeling when you finally finished the exhausting challenge. Great video presentation again, Stoof and Nate. You should try the Infinity loop coming back down. Gives you some great views and doesnt change the distance much. Once you get to the top take the Barr Trail back down to the bailout. Follow incline down to the northern incline return. This is my heaven on earth.

Can you go straight back down the incline once to the top or do you have to take the switchbacks to go back down?
@randystebbins57332 жыл бұрын
@@zloading1 You can go back down, but it is not recommended. The railroad ties are very uneven in places and at a 68 degree grade in places, it is dangerous. That being said, lots of people do go back down the incline. I've done the incline once and I would not, as a 69 year old guy, go back down it. The trail is nice. I just moved to Colorado Springs recently and will definitely go back to the incline. It is an awesome thing to do here, but harder than I thought.

Wow - this is a staircase into the clouds:) I can imagine that you get all sorts of feelings ranging from despair to jubilation while walking up the incline. But if you reach the top then you feel great and happy I can imagine:) In my country we have stated to build something called "Sherpa trails". That is like the Incline, but mostly using stones as the building material for the steps. The reason why it is called "Sherpa trails" is because they are built by Nepalese Sherpas experienced in building trails in difficult places:)

Excellent cardio workout😁🏃♂️🏃♂️!! Looked like... never-ending stairs! 17mn record 😲that's incredible. Was he the Bionic Man?? We have a similar trail where we live called the Goat Track (about half the steps though) that we do twice a week to keep in shape. This manitou incline, I am not sure my wife and I would do this twice a week😆. Great upload and info as always👍

Coming from 1000ft elevation on the plains, is 1 or 2 days enough to acclimate? I really want to climb this. 7 years out on a bone marrow transplant for leukemia x 2.
@TravelSzN2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Everyone acclimates differently. We both live at 1000' elevation but we were in the mountains for about a month before doing this hike. It was pretty challenging even being used to the elevation! I would say go for it, and there are a few places along the hike up where you can turn down a side trail back to the bottom of that incline if your body is not feeling good! You don't have to go to the top!

I’ve watched four videos so far on this hike up the incline, and not one video, said how long it takes to hike to the top, or to do the whole loop🤷🏻♂️
@TravelSzN Жыл бұрын
If you look at the link in the video description, you can see the distance for the hike on AllTrails.
@jeremyking3986 Жыл бұрын
@@TravelSzN I know the distances, but 2 people can walk the same mile in different times, I was just trying to get an idea of the pace and time for a normal person, so I could adjust my expectations accordingly. I’m a little out of shape and would probably stop and rest more than others, plus I’m coming from Florida, so I’m sure the elevation will play a part. But thank you.

How did you prepare for the hike?
