This time on BFB we explore the Narrows during winter with no crowds in Zion National Park. It was such an honor to be able to experience this infamous hike together for the first time. It made it even more special by having the trail to ourselves for almost the entire hike. If you ever get the chance to visit Zion in the winter, take it!

Absolutely! You will have a great time! If you plan to do any other high elevation hikes at this time of year I highly recommend buying some chains for your hiking boots ahead of time. We didn’t know it was necessary until we were already there so had to buy the park ones. So expensive when you can buy ahead for $30 cheaper. We talk about them in our angels landing video kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqKUoaeLhcdjnpY Cheers! ☺️

My friend and I just did this two days ago. We hiked all the way to the Springs and back - it took us a total of 10 hours. It was unbelievably beautiful, but on the way out, we were almost hit by huge chunks of ice falling hundreds of feet above us. Thankfully we weren't hit, we likely wouldn't be around to tell the tale. We also thought that there was a flash flood coming at one point because there was deep rumbling and echoes coming from behind us, so we scurried up the canyon walls and I sprained my ankle with 3 hours left to hike out. Thankfully there wasn't a flash flood (it was just insane amounts of ice falling where we had just hiked) and I didn't actually break my ankle, but it was ROUGH. We rented full body suits that zipped up to our necks, which allowed us to actually swim. We were around a couple for the first two hours who wore what you were wearing, but they turned around once the water was swimming territory. Can I ask how much of it you hiked? We were the the only ones who completed the whole trail and were alone for about 4 hours. We're proud to say we did it, but can't say it was entirely worth it! This trail was incredibly stunning and mesmerizing, but is equally as dangerous. No matter how experienced of a hiker you are, nothing can prepare you for falling ice and flash floods. Nature is a beast and The Narrows will show you how quickly your life can change because of it. I give you all the kuddos for doing this hike, it is NOT for the faint of heart.

Very awesome adventure! Great video! I’m curious about your backpacks! I’m struggling to find a nice fictional and sturdy day pack! Anyway thanks for sharing! 🤙
@bonafideoutside
@bonafideoutside 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 our backpacks are osprey day packs. Got them a few years ago and they are still holding up super well. They have pockets for a water bladder, sufficient pockets to organize, chest and hip clips, and most importantly they are comfortable. We use them every single day. The only qualm I have (and this is being very picky) is that you can’t set them down right side up without it tipping over. Other than that, love ‘em!

Wow thanks for sharing this awesome video! The narrows is breathtaking and we can’t wait to hike this trail for the first time ending of March. Quick question, how deep did the river get? On your video @8:54, was there anyway to avoid that deep area? Any feedback would definitely help us for our hike. Thanks so much for sharing! 🙌
@bonafideoutside
@bonafideoutside 2 жыл бұрын
For sure! The spot at 8:54 was the deepest the water got for us. No avoiding it, but with our sticks we could feel how deep it was before taking another step which helped a ton mentally. We would definitely recommend the waders and boots. Even though it was $55 to rent it was worth it and helped us charge through that river! So excited for you guys 😊

PUT your hands in your pockets when speaking. And keep them in there, unless you're hired as an air traffic controller. STOP distracting your viewers. Apparently, they're hard to come by, and you'll need everyone of them if you're going to succeed in this line of business. Thank you.
