Hiking the Seawall Trail in Cape Breton from north to south!
Four days of mountain climbing, river crossing, bushwhacking, whiskey sipping, and camping under the stars fun.
We could not have asked for a better crew to experience this adventure with and we are still buzzing with the adrenaline from it all. Simply incredible.
It’ll be a hike people will travel from all over to experience.
REMINDER/BEWARE:
This trail has not been developed and we do not recommend doing it without experience, a guide, or until the trail is actually created. ..unless you love bushwhacking in the middle of nowhere without service!

So, I'm heading out on an overlanding trip from home in Oxford to Cape Breton next week, gonna do some trail maintenance and go running in some wilderness areas, and then end up at the seawall and spend some time up there. I'm considering taking my pruning shears and improving some of those bushwhacks a little. I wonder if you'd like to come say hi, and maybe show me your route? No worries if you're busy. Cheers, and thanks for the videos.

Love your channel and the quirky videos! Just watched your northern route 10 day hike. Pretty awesome. I know there are bears and coyotes in the highlands, what precautions do you take as we are thinking of hiking and overnighting on cape st lawrence. Are the horses running wild?
@daveyandsky
@daveyandsky 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! We usually carry bear spray on our bigger hikes but bears run before we see them usually. The horses are free roaming during the warmer months, latest we seen them was November.

That trail is amazing. I am really thinking about doing this in 2023. I have been on plenty of 3 - 7 days backcountry trips but this one really intrigued me. Did you guys do this all with just a GPS and no maps? Just curious on one thing. What was your average hiking times per day? I am used to hiking long days but just curious for the trip planning.
@daveyandsky
@daveyandsky Жыл бұрын
Yup we just used gps the whole time and we were probably hiking about 8-10 hours a day with lots of little breaks 😊

Loved the video! Do you guys happen to have the trail tracked on any apps? All Trails has pieces to it, but not the whole thing.. I am headed out to hike this next week! Going to get dropped off and going to have to find my way back to Sydney. Might have to try some hitch hiking though. Which end of the trail would have the most access to traffic to do so would you think? Can’t pass up the opportunity being in the area!

Also curious about service along the trail. Assuming none on the trail, but would there be service on either end in Meat Cove or Polletts Cove?
@daveyandsky
@daveyandsky 2 жыл бұрын
@@HikingThru Thanks for watching! Our gpx route is available in the description 😊 There's no service on the Polletts Cove side but Meat Cove has service and you can catch a signal on some mountains throughout the trail.

Surprisingly great! Nothing fancy but gets the job done & lots of space in the 70L. Only thing that bothered me on this hike was the waist strap pockets kept opening from the bushwhacking. Probably won't happen during normal hiking. I will likely be taking a 40L version on a 7 day fastpacking trip in NFLD.
