Chris. Planned to hike these both mountains and decided to do exactly the way you did. Felt motivated by your video. You made it look very easy but it was hard but fun hike. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful video. Thank you.

Enjoyed the vid, thanks so much for sharing....grew up in NH but been in Colorado for 14 years now....did Madison years ago when I was at Plymouth State and it blew me away... definitely gave me a taste for big mountains... the Presidentials are the real deal ... thanks again, happy hiking

Thanks man. Presis are amazing. As is 99% of New Hampshire hiking haha. I would love to make it out Colorado way sometime. Those 14ers look amazing!

You’re in the right place, although NH has its stamp on the mountaineering world.

Hi Chris! I don't know how many times I've watched this video. I just watched it again. I really like it. You are a great hiker and a great video maker! Thank you so much. (I tried to make videos but I'm horrible at it) You are very inspiring to hiker wannabes like myself. By the way... steep? just take your time? You lied to me! HA!

Just finished this yesterday with a bunch of friends. We came back down from Adams through Star lake trail and hit Star lake first which was amazing, you kinda missed that. Although the descent is pretty steep and taxing, star lake was so worth it. knees are gone btw. Great video, keep them coming!

Great Vid brings back fond memories. Wife and I did that hike as part of our 48's a few years back quite a strenuous hike when you combine them both together for a day hike but was a nice feeling of accomplishment. We are 18 months away from retirement and plan to hit them again when we do.

Great video. Really enjoyed it/ Planning to the trail how you suggested in two weeks. Is the exact route listed on Alltrails or any other site? I just want to make sure I am talking right trails going up connecting both mountains and down. Thank you so much

Just went up it today, and you can find all the trails on the app/website Gaia. All the trails leading to Adams/Madison are very well marked

Awesome video. What are your thoughts on doing a 3 day presidential hike? Day 1 being Appalachia to valley way tentsite then day 2 being valley way up to Madison then over to lake of the clouds hut and day 3 bring lake of the clouds hut to mount Webster. Do you think this is doable and stuff?
@ChrisGoesOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Definitely doable. Tho I think that would require a night stay at the actual lake of the clouds hut. There is no "legal" camping there that I am aware of. Just something to take into consideration as those huts fill up with reservations really quick.

Other than he valley way camp site...is camping allowed anywhere else around the Madison and Adams mountains? I want to take a big loop including those 2 over a few days this July. Any tips or suggestions for camping with a dog fairly lightweight would be a giant plus too. Cheers brother!
@ChrisGoesOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
There was a tentsite on the bottom side of Madison where you come down from the AT but I believe the site at Valley Way is the only "legal" campsite. I have about 0 insight on camping with a dog though haha

Love the videos!! What packs are you wearing
@ChrisGoesOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
This was an Osprey Stratos 36 or 38. I used it on a decent amount of hikes but ended up selling for a larger, ultralight pack at some point. It was a great pack for the price though

can you suggest some good overnight hikes in the area and where to camp. I've never gone up to the white mts. but i just invested in a quite a lot of money in some good gear and i wanna do a 1-2 night backpacking trip but I'm worried about not being able to find a place to camp not knowing the area and trails etc. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but I am laughing. I see you were late getting to the parking lot. I don't know if you can ever get to Appelachia when it's not packed, though.
@stevendea45846 жыл бұрын
Chris, I planning on grabbing these two bad boys this weekend, and I'm wondering if Apallachia parking get fill up fast, should I get there super early??
@ChrisGoesOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
It fills up VERY early. I think most of the cars get there maybe even Friday night as it is probably the quickest access to the Madison Hut. But ya I would definitely get there early. I drove by there at about 7am on a Saturday on my way to do the Percy Peaks this year and cars were already on the side of the street. Enjoy the hike though. This is a great one!
@stevendea45846 жыл бұрын
thanks for the info, I guess I'll have to target 6h00am or camp there on Friday, are we allowed to park on route 2?
@ChrisGoesOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
I dont know if its actually legal but people do it all the time. I was actually parked on the side when I made this video. You are pretty far off the road though but ya no signage stating otherwise. From what I heard too I think you can park at the gas station down the street a bit but they charge you a couple bucks. Not sure how true that is though. I think I read it on a trip report. Have never done it personally or known anyone else who did
@stevendea45846 жыл бұрын
I'm from Canada, I'll try to get there for 6h00 and cross my fingers. thanks for the feedback much appreciated bud!
