There are *so* many great places to hike in Upstate New York but a favorite of mine is Harriman State Park. It is literally a 30 minute drive away from Manhattan and has over 200 miles of hiking trails with tons of varying terrain. A really unique (and also close) hike is the Giant Stairs which involves a hike down the side of a cliff to a waterfall on the Hudson River and three different rock scrambles.

The best hike we've ever done is Cinque Terre in Italy. We're pretty avid hikers. We also really enjoyed our "hike" from tip to tip of Manhattan. That's one of our favorites. :) -Brian

Hawaii...pretty much all the islands have excellent hikes🍍🌈🌺🌴🐋 Washington State...Mt Rainier, Olympic National Forest, North Cascades🏔 Oregon...Columbia River Gorge(Oneonta is sweet).That's the only part I've hiked lol

We just added this to our must go hiking list. Where did you stay? Since you're from MO, next time you're in St. Louis check out Castlewood State Park in Ballwin do the River Scene Trail awesome views of the Meremac River and the Lone Wolf trail it is shorter but very pretty as well. I'm excited to see where in NC you are visiting! DuPont State Forest in Western NC is a great place to see waterfalls within walking distance of each other and just West of there is a whole bunch of waterfalls.

Colorado Bend State Park. it is about a 2hr drive north west from Austin. Absolutly gorgeous, especially the Gorman Falls trail and spicewood springs trail.

If ever you're back in the Lake District, UK you should check out the books of Alfred Wainwright. He was the main man for hiking guides in the north of England. You might want to try his coast-to-coast walk if you're feeling brave! Regards from the UK.

If you ever come back to Costa Rica, there some pretty good hiking trails in here. The best one is to El Chirripó Mountain, it's about 9 miles. But that one is really hard and you have to pay. I could show some less known hiking spots too.
