Josh. I am from South Carolina, and my family and I had the very rare opportunity to stay in the L.A. area for 4 weeks straight! My daughter was an intern for one of the movie/tv studios, but she had no place to stay and the position was unpaid. So, her mother and I were able to make arrangements with work so that we could come out to California also. While we were there we were able to hike Griffith Park (Mt. Lee, Mt. Hollywood and to Cathy's Corner), Eagle Rock by the coast and half way up Mt. Thom at Brand Park in Glendale! Not many you-tubers do that hike (you might want to do that one.) We had a great time hiking in the L.A. area!

Free parking along the street near the Greek Theatre or the Roosevelt golf course on Vermont Canyon Rd. Then either walk up that street or take short-cut on Boy Scout Trail. The trail is somewhat challenging but very short. I'm surprised you didn't take that route, Josh!!

We took a bus to and from the Observatory. I think it cost about 35 cents each way since we already had a transit card and dropped us off and picked us up directly in front of the the Observatory. I don't know why anyone would drive there and pay for parking when such a convenient option exists. We were able to get everywhere we wanted in and around LA via public transit for a week long visit back in 2018 and never had to worry about the hassle of renting a car and driving in LA traffic. It was great.
@keithjohnson53983 жыл бұрын
Yes, believe there are a couple of places you can catch the Dash bus to the Observatory. From the Vermont Red Line station (for sure) and believe from the Gene Autry Museum parking lot as well.

There are one or two city bus options I believe. Such as:Take the Metro red line to Vermont Sunset Station, exit Vermont Ave and take the Dash Observatory bus. Buses run every 20-25 mins and it ends at the Observatory itself.

They still allow parking on the street on the way to the observatory? 15 bucks an hour is outrageous. Used to be free, crowded but free, later it was 4/hr. But I guess if you aren't really hiking 15-30 dollar is like paying admission to the observatory and the views which are pretty good on a good day.
