I wish you would do this hiking in the coming weekend, that way, we can see if the fall color is in the area. But, still love your video.

Oh, and I can't wait to research how these soda tufas occur concomitantly in the Salton Sea and Mono Lake. I have a pretty good understanding of Salton Sea etiology and mineralogy, but I have to admit that I was not aware that there is another body of water (at least in the US) that creates soda tufas.

Well...look at that: Mono Lake seems to show the same geologic, crater lake sort of, topography. Very interesting, all of these old caldera lakes with secondary cone/islands. But Mono Lake is MUCH flatter, which means....wait for it...that it is even older. Erosion has taken away the bowl of the caldera.

Since this is in August was the temp very high? When you take Paco on hikes do you take extra water or electrolytes for him? Lou & Angie
@WanderlandTravelers3 жыл бұрын
The daytime temps were pretty warm but no need for AC -- we were camping without hookups no problem. It cooled down at night, and since we did this hike close to sunset the temps were very comfortable. and Yes! always lots of water and snacks for sweet Paco
