Hiking Vulcano (Volcano Island) Aeolian Islands, Sicily (9th October 2016)
Hello everyone and welcome to my Hiking Vulcano video!
When I hike, I look for places that will allow me to escape the chaos of normal life, and I certainly found that on the Island of Vulcano.
This is a stunning landscape which gives the hiker's an unbelievable opportunity to experience a remote universe!
I had a wonderful time filming and I hope this video inspires you to seek adventure, whether on Vulcano or anywhere else in the world.

Hi, Pete! I love the concept of your channel. Thank you for the IG follow, btw. It's hard to make out the message, but I originally believed the brave soul who journeyed into the center of Vulcano had inscribed a love note of sorts that might say " 'Marcy' or 'Nancy' 💘 Marco" ...? I snapped a still screenshot for further investigation but I haven't been able to make out anything more than my initial determination as a potential possibility. I sure hope that certain someone gets the message. How cool would it be to know that someone cared enough to make that trek for the sole purpose of professing their feelings in such a mythical yet potentially hazardous environment? It's almost on the same level as having a special message for you on the moon! ...almost. 😆 Thank you for sharing your adventures, and again also for the introduction. I've climbed Vulcano twice, in 2017 and 2018. No volcanic activity the way its' neighbour puts on, but the fumaroles let you know this one is not done yet. In 2018 I was up on the crater rim in dense fog. Luckily it was a broad path! We ascended to the very peak and waited out the worst of the morning fog, hastily descending down a narrow path that was exposed to the fumes, thankfully without incident. Vulcano is a potential danger, but the aura of calmness, tranquility and warmth was something about the island I've never encountered anywhere before. I have footage of Stromboli erupting in 2017 if you'd like to check it out. I THINK the pronounciation is 'Vul - car - no', certainly the one I used, but either works.
