So beautiful! Thanks for another great video. Looking forward to doing this in the summer with our little hiker. He is 7 years old, loves to watch your videos as "prep work" before our hikes. This video will be good for him to learn to always air on the side of safety. Thanks again guys!

Should be a great hike for him! Lots of changes in environment with a big payoff at the end, even if you only go to the saddle. And it always pays to be safe than sorry when you are out in the wilderness. :)

Thank you, Nick and Jen for the great video. Only found your channel about a week ago, and been binge watching since, hehe. Also, thank you for showing that a youtube video is not worth a person's safety. Great job!

Enjoy the binge and don't forget to stay hydrated! Hah. :D

The unofficial name of the peak you point out at 7:43 is Sibley Peak. A beautiful scramble with great views of Eldorado, Johannesburg, and more.

The perfect vid for my first Fall 17 snow day. Currently snowing at ~200' over in the Oly Pen. Thanks for posting!

Was snowing most of the day for us here in Seattle. Sadly none of it stuck to the ground.

First of all, I adore you guys. I'm so excited you finally got around to this one. One of my favorites! I think you were smart to take a pass on that peak. I've seen what's under that snow. It's a bouldery mess.

Wow, that looks beautiful in the snow! I hiked this one in August 2014 and the views were spectacular. Long hard hike, and I'm sure it's even more so in the snow. Kudos to you for making it as far as the saddle in those conditions!

It's definitely on our list of places to return to and maybe spend a night as well.

Good call on turning back, it's easy to slide off that trail in good conditions. Next time you gotta check out the "Throne of the Gods" below the lookout - and below that is a faint boot path leading to the lake.

Thanks for the extra info Shane. Will have to check it out next time.

Such a great job! My favorite channel! There is deff lack of channels like yours. Specifically on hikes that are about the hike and informative in PNW! Thank you!

Have you guys ever hiked skyline trail on Mt. Rainer? That was the first real hike I ever did, I think you guys would like it. It might already be to snowy though.
@OutsideAndStuff7 жыл бұрын
We have not done Skyline, but it's on the list. Last week as I was flying back from Cali, I could see that area had a bit of snowfall already. Trip reports from last week said some of the early snow melted down a bit. But I'm sure after this weeks snow, it's going to be deep in powder.

I've had few contacts with snow in my life, since there isn't snow in my country. So is always special to see you on these "white hikes" . Just dont forget your sun glasses again on the next one :] By the way, do you have a dog?
@OutsideAndStuff7 жыл бұрын
We never really need sunglasses in Seattle. So I tend to forget them. I'm just going to take a pair and throw them in my kit of essentials. Sadly, we do not have a dog. We would love one, but we travel too much and go a lot of places dogs are not allowed. Maybe someday when we calm down a bit. :)

What time of year was this filmed? November? I’m from FL so it’s baffling there’s snow elsewhere so early in the yeah lol. We still have pool parties then! But we’re going to Washington in February and really want to make this hike! It’s a lifelong dream of ours. What would conditions be around then?

Uhh, Nick... Just started watching the vid, but... yes, that IS definitely 'bear country'! Probably half of the times I've done that trail, I've seen bear; but normally at considerable distance. Ok, back to the vid to see if you saw one. My Father was manning that LO one summer and the lightning cables got hit. (He was sitting on the glass footed stool.) It charred the heather for about a half mile down the mountain where the communication cable was lying. Hot Stuff! and a hot view!
@OutsideAndStuff7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I realized after I said that it was incorrect. What I think I was meaning to say, is that I don't feel that area is as bad with bears as it can be out in parts of the Olympics. But yes, there are plenty in the North Cascades.

big dog little dog; looked like mountain lion to me. I saw a sasquatch footprint on the north fork sauk river trail; two weeks ago. there was a bit of snow on the wood foot bridge.
@OutsideAndStuff7 жыл бұрын
We ended up running into the dogs later on the trail as they turned around. One was a St Bernard and the other a chihuahua. Yin and Yang for sure. :)

hard to believe all these years have past; my bad calling lion. I do not like the hikes that I put lots of effort in to a climb and am tired, then I see that last beast of a climb to paradise. ouch.
