We have decided to take our little TACTICAT with us for this adventure ! 🐱
And what can I say ? We are not disappointed ! 😍
So now it is time for me to show you how we go HIKING with Hughie !
He absolutely loves being in the Wild with us, but his favorite part is definitely hiking because he can explore and feel the grass under his poutpout (paws) 🐾
Hughie is for me the most important little ball of fur of my life, we’ve been together since I adopted him from a shelter 8 years ago. I love him to the moon and back ❤️❤️❤️

That is really nice to get the cat out and be able to get out yourself, without having to spend less time with him. It is worth mentioning that not all harnesses are the same and some are possible for a cat to wiggle out of if they panic or escape. Mine is a small dog harness for that reason. Cats have strong instincts for the wild also, so some will get a little or a lot more wild if taken to nature. I don't even recommend it necessarily, unless someone really knows there cat well and totally knows what they are doing. And has a very good affectionate friendship with the cat. Oh yeah and in the U.S. there are predatory animals that would take a small dog or a cat right off that leash. And some people letting there dogs run etc. Not to be critical just helping. It would be heartbreaking for someone to lose their cat on a hike, out of a vehicle or boat etc.

You are great Owner for your cat! Animals are not a slaves for people, but many people keep them only in apartament/house whole their life. Same for dogs, and cats. Keep what you doing, and enjoy! 🙂

....a retired Croatian guy used to go weekend camping with his cat near my quarry. They'd walk up the creek together fishing for Brook Trout. After a while his cat would get tired and meow, then the cat would have to ride on the guy's shoulders all the way back to camp...

My cat that you see in the profile picture started hiking with me since she was a kitten my cat is now 9 months and still hikes. My cat is not anti-social but she hates cats and loves dogs and people. I got more stuff that you showed in the video I got more different snacks.

great video! how do you handle his bathroom needs, especially for long car rides? do you just keep a litter box in the car, and is he able to use it ok even when the car is moving? when outside on the trail i assume he just goes whenever/wherever he needs to? thanks!

Thank you ! For long car rides, thankfully my BF need to make pee stop pretty frequently, so if we are in the middle of nowhere, in the woods they just go together, if we are in a city we stop and I setup his portable litter :) and on trails, basically yes, if he is in the bag we setup an alarm every one hour to take him out, if he's on the leash is very shy so we find some quiet places and he does whats needed haha ! We always always take time to stop the car and let him pee, we adjust everything around him, but know that cats are able to hold their pee for a little while (not as long as human) so we always had time to park the car safely :) so never tried on moving cars, we did on moving boat and he managed everything like a champ 🐱💪🏻

I’m the same. I am planning on thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. I rehomed my two dogs. I wish I could find a loving forever home for them. They are siblings, spade, four years old..

If you give him wet food or raw food, he won’t need this much water. Cats get there water from their prey. Dry food will cause kidney issues later in life.

Can you please share more about that harness? Which one are u using where can I get one? My cat is pretty large and it's hard to find a comfortable harness for him. He's about 16 LB

How many hours does your cat resist???

The longest hike we did was 5 hours, he was in the backpack most of the time and also it took 5 hours because we did a lot of stops for him to go out, eat, drink, walk etc.. When he is only walking he can do it for 45 minutes max, after he's tired and prefer the bag 🙂 (before wanting to walk again haha) Hope it helped 🙏 🐱

We make a lot of stops and pauses to take him out of his bag. When we're outdoors, honestly, he just pees during one of the stops :) and before we start we give him his litter and he has all the time he needs to do his little business.
