I probably shouldn't have shown this show to my friend. He made his own Sentai inspired Squad in Monster Hunter World. He named it Pawer Nyangers. He would have called it Unofficial Monster Hunter Super Sentai Squad Pawer Nyangers, but thankfully there is a character limit for the name.

Not gonna lie. When I first saw this series, I knew literally nothing about it other than the name (didn't know what Hikounin meant at the time). Was understandably more than a little bit surprised when, partway through episode 1, they started cross-fading between Sentai Reds and blaring the relevant theme songs.

Yes, that is Hatsune Miku. Since Vocaloid is a synthesizer instrument anyone can use like say, a drum or a horn, or a guitar, it'd make sense to use her in Nerdrangers.

Its really sad that they cancelled Akibaranger after season 2... There is just no way they ran out of stuff to joke about in just two seasons, besides that, unlike most super sentais, the charactrs were really enjoyable :)

For what it's worth, the show was only ever intended to be one season, but fan support and the main cast campaigning got a second season greenlit. So we got an extra season we were never supposed to get. That said, I really would love to see them have a third season, or at least make more cameo appearances. The recent Zenkaiger cameo was great, but they didn't even have voice lines and just showed up for a few seconds.

It seems that a lot of people still aren't aware that this is not an official Sentai Team. It even lampshades it in their team name. Yes it was made by Toei. But just like how Gokaiger was a celebration of the history of Sentai, Akibaranger is a parody of every cliche you find in the same Super Sentai shows. Even the male female ratio is made fun of. All that aside, it's a funny series. I would recommend you watch it.

In all genuine honesty, despite being an unofficial sentai from what I've seen in watching it so far{only a few episodes}..this ranks among my top sentai, and I figure a lot of people don't like the suit designs but personally these are my favorite sentai suit designs, if just for the real nice change of pace that is actual -armor- rather then just spandex. So eh.
