Hikvision Camera WDR Comparison - 4MP vs 3MP

The lighting conditions are drastically brighter for the 4MP camera sections of video. You can even see that the times of day when the video was taken are different. This test gets 0/5 in my books.

It appears the exposure settings were setup differently on the 3MP so the backlight is over compensating. The shutter speed and FStop of both cams are the same. The only difference is the CMOS megapixels.

the field of view between 3MP and 4MP is different. door and windows are smaller with 3MP, other dark areas take more space.

This is not true. I have 3MP Hikvision and I take settings similar effects as the kind of 4MP. Seller wants you mistakenly convinced with 4MP are better at wdr

+Macias Minus This is simply untrue. We actually tried three different brand new 2732F-I 3MP cameras because we were taken aback by the difference between the WDR capabilities of the cameras and presumed one of the cameras was faulty - it's just the difference between the 3MP's dWDR and the 4MP 120db WDR.

You are saying that the movie shows the difference between the 3MP dWDR and 4MP WDR? and will not achieve a better picture on 3MP under these conditions(video)?

+Macias Minus We set out to test the difference between the improved 120dB WDR of the new R6 4MP family of Hikvision cameras versus the existing dWDR of the Hikvision 3MP 2-series of cameras. The above is what we found. Lowering the resolution of the R6 camera will not change the results of the WDR test.

+Macias Minus This 4.0MPx cost almost the same as 3.0MPx, well maybe 5% more. And telling that you can get same results using Digital WDR comparing to True 120dB WDR is just silly.

Split video in half and feed the recording from both cameras at the same time, every time you recorded on each camera conditions outside were constantly changing, I bet it was a cloudy day with strong wind and your video shows that when leaves are flying left and right and sun hides behind the clouds. Not accurate comparison in my book.

Hi Matt, Thank you for your clear and concise comment, we are sorry to hear that you think our video is biased, we have always tried to be fair and honest with our findings of all the cameras we test. In terms of it being a poor test, as you will see at the beginning of the video and from the description below the video we actually created a new and improved WDR test in 2016 that, as you will see from the comments, most viewers were much happier with.

Hikvision is overrated. I bought unbranded 2.4mp 1080p which beat hikvision 3.0mp
