About the first comic... If they all would stop working, the ferryman wouldn't earn coins, so he wouldn't be able to pay this mermaid creature, and the water would soon go away, right? There WAS the solution, but everyone rejected it just because they were afraid of some risks, and that's the only reason why the ferryman kept control over them...

@@ZaxorVonSkyler This has to be one of the most mixed up metaphors I have ever heard. Placing coins on the eyes of the dead is an act of giving up materiel wealth in the name of love or respect for the one who has passed. @@ZaxorVonSkyler I guess? The author had to do quite a bit of set up and world building to engineer that though. If you have to invent huge amounts of new lore to reframe a legendary figure in a specific way to fit your metaphor are they really good material for it in the first place? They had to invent the whale, the idea that the boatman is refillling the river, and the idea that coinless souls could work off their debt. Its all very contrived.

Video and realised within the first comic the Ferryman charges money to bring people across the river and then uses that money to make the river bigger. This guy just wants everyone to suffer he's not buying luxuries for himself he's just forcing people to work so that they can increase the amount of suffering overall
@joshuacollins3852 жыл бұрын
He's not trying to increase misery, he's just trying to increase the amount of money he has, with misery being a side effect. He's an analogy for the worse parts of capitalism. He's like an oil CEO publishing studies claiming that pollution isn't a problem, or cigarette producers paying off doctors to claim there are health benefits to smoking. The misery of others isn't the goal, it's just a price they're willing to pay.
