The song offers a pared-down presentation of the Holy Spirit coming in fire as the spark of animate life, as well as capable of making inanimate nature operate. While His works are many and varied, we know He hovered over the waters after God's love for the Word actually gave rise to Him, making Him available to participate in creation. It is a very elemental concept, seems to draw on ideas from Saint Francis, and is presented with such gravitas and genuine power. To this day, the Holy Spirit offers us signs through nature and culture, as well as Scripture and (soon?) Rapture..
