I and my late colleague closed the gates for the last time in June 2006. I was there for 30 years. The mill horn was a familiar sound to the local residents and could be heard a couple of miles away, so on the last day we gave it three long blasts, one for each century of operation of Barbours, then the ‘big mill’ fell silent for the final time. I also worked at times in Gifford Mill that you have also filmed, it was part of the same group ( Lindustries ). Nice camera work, 👍

Rod, an enormous looking site which looks like it has been closed for much longer than 2006. The finery and the decay as nature reclaims the land. So much history with this site, with all those people working there and all the material that was produced. Hopefully the site can be rejuvenated and save its wonderful character for the future.
