Hill EC 3000 Portable Air Compressor

I brought this air compressor a few months back after using one owned by my cousin. Seeing how easy and effective it was made the choice to spend such a large sum of money on a compressor after the issue I had with two previous compressors from another manufacturer was a no-brainer.
So with the money laid down and Matt Winser from Airgun Sports Australia sorting the import logistics out for me it was full steam ahead. Once the compressor arrived in Australia, Matt set it all up filled the oil reservoirs and tested the unit out before repacking it and sending it my way.
Since having it I have yet to make a trip to the dive shop and always leave the house with a full cylinder on my tank to start the nights shoot.
So if you are thinking of going out and getting a compressor to make your shooting experiences so much better, I would suggest spending that little extra and get something worth keeping. Going by the construction and design this compressor will last you a very long time with plenty of fills to make you happy.

I've had my Hill 3000 for a year and a half (actually closer to two years now). It is an outstanding unit and I use mine all the time. Mine leaked at the crankcase window from new so I contacted P/A where I bought it, they contacted Hill in England and they had me a new part in less than a week all the way from England to me here in the USA. Outstanding customer service IMO..It is suggested to hold a rag under the bleeder screw when releasing it to catch the moisture/oil. Mine has never reached the over heat point and I have filled several airguns one right after the other- an AA s510, FX Dreamline and FX Impact with a 480 cc bottle.

Yeah I can see this compresor living a long life at my place and it will certainly earn it's keep.

Mine leaked at the o ring that goes around the plastic reservoir, I took it apart and reset the o ring and reassembled it and no leaks, got lucky. I should not have had to do that with a new machine, especially considering the price, otherwise I’m happy with it.

Enjoy your Hill compressor. I have had mine about 18 months and it has been great. Saved me many a trip to the shop for bottle refills. If you are filling/topping up bottles then I would also recommend a one way check valve. Don't forget to bleed off both sides though before disconnecting.

I was curious if you set it to PSI what the max allowable fill pressure is? If it goes to 4400 then you could squeeze a few more bar out of it. It looks like from the new manual on their website the new firmware is allowing 310bar/4500psi fills. However, I don’t think the firmware is field upgradable on the older units.

I noticed on mine I have to add 10 bar to reach the target pressure, I set 210 to reach 200.

Sounds different from mine but mine is running on 110 and it’s the evo model, maybe that’s why.

How long would it take to fill a scuba tank 300bar?

Depends on how empty it is. It's not recommended to fill them completely using this compressor just to top it up from say 230- 240 bar. To do that can take some time depending on weather conditions and also the size of the tank a 4lt will take less than a 12lt scuba tank.

This compressor is made in England, so I would say you can get it there. Not sure if 4500psi would be good for the airbrush though.

This is not what you want for airbrushing, you can get an adequate compressor for that for $100.00
