The Andhra Association Delhi celebrates Sankranti, also known as Pedda Panduga, with great enthusiasm. The festival is celebrated 2 days before on Sunday January 12th 1025.
Key Highlights of the Celebration
*Bhogi*: Is celebrated with a bonfire, symbolizing the burning of old things to make way for the new. People also decorate their homes with colorful patterns made from rice flour, called Muggu.
*Pedda Panduga/Sankranti*: Dedicated to the Hindu god Surya. People exchange sweets, wear new clothes, and worship the Sun God.
*Kanuma*: Dedicated to cattle and other domestic animals. People decorate and worship their animals, and also engage in traditional sports like kite flying and bull racing.
*Mukkanuma*: Is a time for Telugu family reunions and social gatherings.
