Being here in Arkansas and born here I'm glad to hear you play Arkansas Traveler. Sometimes we are overlooked but Arkansas and Southern Missouri have a strong bluegrass culture that was settled by Appalachians Mountain people that moved west here In Arkansas and Missouri in the Ozark and Ouachita mountains. Arkansas Traveler was not only a fiddle tune but a story about Arkansas. Some versions are positive and some negative about our Hillbilly reputation of an outsider traveling through Arkansas.
@DaltonHBrown4 жыл бұрын
The settlers continued on and settled Oklahoma as well. But that was mostly forgotten, likely due to the Dust Bowl driving many out to the west coast.

Fantastic! That's what I call a "band"! Banjo & fiddle is all that's needed. As happy as the music and dancing is, I got misty-eyed looking beyond you two into the hills. Looks just like my Central West Virginia homeland! Misty-eyed because I've been marooned in California most of my life.

MrRexQuando That’s awesome, I’m glad you enjoy it! But tell me, why do you think this one is better than all the others? Because it’s live? Not pre-recorded.
@MrRexquando5 жыл бұрын
@@HillaryKlug Wow hard to describe the why. I think because the instruments are complimentary with the smooth fiddle and hammering banjo but at the same time going the same chord progressions. It is both beautiful but extremely playful and repetitive enough to keep you hooked. It sounds like it feels to be going fast on a hot day on a boat with a sporty chop on the ocean.

Nice duet. Have always liked the sound of a banjo. Appreciate how you are letting your country-girl-next-door personality show during the performance and after in the prologue. Reminds me of my hometown growing up, where most people learned how to drive a John Deer before learning how to drive a car. It takes a little bit of courage to put yourself out there on the troll-er-net. Thanks for being you! Keep having fun and posting it for others to enjoy as well.
