a time-lapse of an arena build , access was very tight so all materials had to be tipped on the clients drive way and reloaded into dumpers , makes it interesting.

My Area is Very out of level and needs to be brought to to grade with gravel. Would I dig my trenches in the gravel sub grade once its leveled? Also what is the top membrane you use between the crushed stone and the footing?

Hello can you please go through the layers in this video please from base to rubber chipping
@paybax4 жыл бұрын
Do you put a crown on it, or not bother as you have sufficient base and drainage?
@hillbill4503 жыл бұрын
Its completely level , plenty of drains under there

Have you got trimble on the digger or how is the laser working in the corner?
@hillbill4503 жыл бұрын
We had a trimble receiver on the bucket, we now have idig

Hello, great job, I read in a comment that area is completely level, is the trench for the pipe level too or how much slope you do on those? Thank you.
@hillbill4503 жыл бұрын
Yes it's level , drainage is sloped to the far end , run into a bigger pipe that takes it to a stream at the bottom of the field
@Ndiazbacci3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your response, I am trying to do an arena just like the ones you do but do it myself. How many cm of base do you install? here we use stone #57 clean for the base. Do you recommend that? bigger stone? same stone for the pipes? Thanks for your help. Your videos are really helping me out.

@@Ndiazbacci base needs to be 150mm thick minimum. 40-50mm clean stone no fines , gravel around drainage pipes

@@hillbill450 I called the quarry closed by, they have a stone called #57 clean with no fines but they told me does is not suitable because it doesn't compact well. But i see all your videos and you use clean stone with no fines clearly so that the pipes also don't get contaminated inside. Are you familiar with #57? is that suitable to do the base like you do it there in the UK? Thank you very much you are really helping me out here.

All are stone is pretty angular , so it locks together , so maybe there stone round like a gravel , which Will not compact

What would this sort of area cost for this spec ?
@robertbutler80046 ай бұрын
@andrewdennis5771 If you had to ask then you can't afford it.

how much would this cost in north west england for the exact same arena? btw this is amazing!!
@hillbill4503 жыл бұрын
Hard to say Maddie, it would depend on the ground levels , what access to site is like , how far you are away from Quarries and equestrian grade silica Quarries, lots of variables, but probably £30k upwards

Why did you dig down to put the arena instead of building it up? You just made a retention pond with fabric and sand over it. At that point any water in the surrounding area is going to gather in the arena now
@hillbill4506 ай бұрын
I'm sorry but you are completely wrong , there is a drain every 4m , which leaves the arena far right , the ground was sloped so we had to cut it out to make it level , it's never held any water since we installed it , you seem to have little knowledge, about levels and drainage . Good day to you.

Building an arena at the moment in Australia, what was the top surface you used?
@hillbill450 Жыл бұрын
It's rubber chip, but more important to use a fibresand as your surface and rubber is used to help not freeze in the winter
@hollyberry4749 Жыл бұрын
@@hillbill450 thanks so much for getting back to me, we had rubber crumb when we lived in UK, we are in Queensland so the temp doesn’t drop much below 20 degrees in winter. I think we may need river sand.
@hillbill450 Жыл бұрын
@Holly Berry if you use sand without fibre in it, it will ride deep and when it dries out , it will blow away, or end up in the corners , you can buy bales of fibre , spread it out on the levelled sand and rotovate it into the sand to stabilise it, make sure the sand is very damp when doing this
