That's some good stuff man! I play tenors in my high school's marching band and was put in the same position as you and got to write and teach the show music. Can't say our line or the music was as good as yours :p but we have a few vids up too if you ever want to check it out.

Yes, the actual bass drums themselves were awful old and rugged. I mean, I tuned them the best I could, but they still sounded awful. Tenors were pretty bad as well. They were just low. We got new drums the next year... after I graduated lol. That's how it goes sometimes.
