Now THAT is how to review a tent. Loved that. Need a green new non pink nallo lol. Very informative and I've just learned how to set mine up. Thanks for that buddy. All the best for the holidays. Going to catch up on some more of your videos. Cheers.

Nice review. I like the way you did the review after your snow trip. You were able to learn some lessons and then share them with us. Hilleberg makes some great tents and this one looks bomb proof. Thank you for the information.

+Sleeves Thanks. Still learning how to feel safe in the snow. Ordered a set of snow stakes. I could see where they would help make the set up more expedient. That was where most of the anxiety happened. Just needed some shelter fast.

Great setup video on the Nallo! those shelters sure are sweet, and that ventilation, roominess, love the clothes line and storage pockets. great job Bruce!

+Don Milligan I agree and with the mesh inner option I would have this as my tent. This or the Anjan, or the Rajd, or.....

+NorwegianWoods Thanks Martin. Had to resort to the under bridge studio. We have been having some great storms here so if I was to do a normal review in the woods I would have to clean it all again. And the other weekend we were in 2 feet of snow and heavy winds. Are you getting snow yet?
@NorwegianWoods9 жыл бұрын
We had a little snow for a couple of days but it rained away. Right now it is a couple of degrees below freezing. Usually the winter kicks in after new year around here. I am really looking forward to do some real winter camping again :)

When in a forested environment one can always use twigs/branches, say 1-2cm thick and 30-40cm long, as snow anchors. Easy and cheep. It´s a nice tent, for me perfect for 2 persons in winter conditions. If there is a lot of snow one can always dig out the vertibule to get more head room (perhaps even standing height) which is nice when cooking, and using the pit when cooking is safer. It also traps cold air. Nice video, thank!
@naturecallsoutdoors9 жыл бұрын
+Fredrik Olsson Sounds great I hope to experience some of those configurations this winter. I would have needed to use the stick technique for sure if the pegs didn't work. We have wet snow so it clumped well enough. I would love it if you would make some videos too Thanks for watching Bruce

+Scouting Free Had to split the weight pretty good. I also made a mistake bringing too much gear anyway. Thought the conditions were going to be calmer so I brought 2 tarps too. Once we got there it was so windy we just slammed it up and ran for cover.

Excellent review amigo. I was really looking forward to your walk through of this GT version vs your previous Nallo 3 review. The folks at Hilleberg really do seem to have EVERYTHING considered and accommodated. How do you find the tension on the doors/zipper once everything is taut? I expect its perfect...it sure looked it. Thanks for another great video. Stay warm and well over there Thom
@naturecallsoutdoors9 жыл бұрын
+Scruff UK Thanks Thom. I like them both. A lot of the place I go wouldn't house such a long tent but in the winter it seems to be easier. The tautness is very good. I once didn't have a door all the way zipped when I staked it all out and it was so tight I couldn't zip it. Was a note to self to make sure all the doors are zipped prior. What also isn't so apparent is the cross strapping that holds everything together on the ground level. I assume that helps keep the doors correct.

@naturecallsoutdoors9 жыл бұрын
+savedpurplecat The weather station said 40-50. I learned a lot, and even more on this review. This is one of the favorites now. I love the ventilation and the open porch mode. I think it is a great year round tent. Maybe a mesh inner, but looks like the ventilation is pretty good.

Which begs the next question - Kaitum or Keron. I'm shopping for a new tent for northern canoe trips - no winter camping - but it will see time in the arctic and all the goes with that, high winds, very harsh cold and wet weather.
@naturecallsoutdoors8 жыл бұрын
+Robert Gerety Canoe, then I would easily go for the Keron. It would be very comfortable and has easily performed in those conditions. Maybe talk to them about an extra set of poles too. With a double pole you will be sitting great and secure. The Keron design really has no design shortcomings in my opinion. Can you get the GT model?
@barrchan53588 жыл бұрын
Thanks review! What about compare to the Nallo gt 2 and Fjallraven Abisko Shape 2 ? Abisko seem have better air flow and more suitable for summer, but Nallo looks more durable. I hope use for a long-distance cycling, Thx!
@naturecallsoutdoors8 жыл бұрын
Hi Barr. I would probably never do anything with the Fjallraven tent line as they are a direct competitor of Hilleberg. My sons are Marines that work for Hilleberg when they are being active and they take very good care of them. Maybe look at the Kaitum or others that have the 2 entrances if flow is something you are really looking for. Hope you have some great bike trips.

How is the condensation in zero wind in summer or snow temps closed up?
@naturecallsoutdoors6 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry. Just go flooded with comments so sorry for the late reply. I have no probs with condensation in the summer, but I have it opened way up. During the winter I have had problems as I will have my dogs and I have found they breathe a ton of moisture. I will move up to a bigger tent if they go. I have also made some cooking mistakes in this tent boiling water. The big thing is taking care right from the get go. get off all the gear you can before entering the sleep quarters, only a certain amount of breathers, work the venting and try not to cook inside. This tent is probably not the best for winter snow conditions. I would go with the Kaitum.
@myadventureoutdoors9 жыл бұрын
That is an awesome tent. I thought it was cool you were under a bridge in the wind for this video. I kept waiting for a homeless person to come along and ask to sleep in the tent for the night.
@naturecallsoutdoors9 жыл бұрын
+Adventure Outdoors Hehe. It would be a great tent for the homeless, we took in one extra the other night up in the snow.
@robgerety8 жыл бұрын
The GT is intriguing but I almost always - except in rare very high winds - pitch a big tarp (or a CCS Lean+ if its buggy) where we hang out and cook and store gear etc under cover so I don't feel the need for a huge covered porch like the GT provides. I guess I would rather have my tent have a bit smaller footprint to enhance pitching options if I run into a tight area. Seems like two normal sized vestibules, one on each end, should meet my needs just fine. Why do you think Keron over Kaitum? I was thinking the same but I'm curious about your thoughts between those two tents? I am not backpacking so the small extra weight of the Keron v. Kaitum does not concern me. Still - how else do those two tents differ.
@naturecallsoutdoors8 жыл бұрын
+Robert Gerety The Keron seems a lot taller to me. Not sure what the volume increase is but the more the better. It is used by a lot of the explorer types and the military loves it. Great recommendations. Can you imagine the work space if you took out the inner in one. Now I am getting all excited about it again.
@robgerety8 жыл бұрын
is the foot area high enough inside to stay off your bag?
@naturecallsoutdoors8 жыл бұрын
+Robert Gerety No, I assume for weight reduction. I would look to the Kaitum or Keron to get that benefit. I love the Nallo and it is very popular, but what you point out is where I would say is a minus. Better have the ventilation working great. We had it up in the snow, so the great vents on the back could not be utilized. Plus the weather really turned so we were cooking inside too. Lots of moisture when all done. Plus we had to rescue and house another hiker. Kept us all alive, but the gear needed a lot of drying.

your tent appears black. It is the green right?
@naturecallsoutdoors8 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a very dark green. I think the dye this year turned out much darker than previous years. The other tents I have had the opportunity to do reviews on are all this color. What do you think? I personally like the new Sand/Coyote color a lot.
