Challenging these young minds is a beautiful thing. I was thinking about honor. Certainly it can be conveyed upon a person but I believe there is also personal honor independent of others. For example, if I (as a German Soldier) opposed killing Jews and was executed for that view? My peers would consider me dishonorable. But I’d go to my grave knowing I upheld my honor. There are probably a lot of proclaimed honorable people who have a dark underbelly. Dr Arnn is the master inquisitor. He’d likely have my view backed into an inescapable corner in no time!

Two points of clarification: one does not "win" a CMOH, it is awarded as an Honor. And the person Dr. Arnn refers to as the "blinker" was Adm. Jeremiah Denton (d. 28March2014) who was a Navy Commander when he was shot down in July 1965 and spent just under 8 years as a POW. He blinked the word "TORTURE" in Morse code during an interview that was recorded as communist propaganda. Adm Stockdale was the SRO (Senior Ranking Officer) of the POW's. He too spent over 7 1/2 years in the North Vietnamese prison. Adm Stockdale had the misfortune of being Presidential Candidate Ross Perot's running mate and the illustrious media made fun of him (Stockdale - not to mention Perot). We throw the word "hero" around today like confetti. Everyone it seems is a "hero". But these two Naval Officers are "heroes" in my estimation.

I am not fond of soldiers, especially in Vietnam or the middle east, the US military had no business being in either place, and murdered millions of innocent "enemy" soldiers and civilians. The US killed four million Vietnamese. But you will say that they are heroes for having suffered. There are four million dead Vietnamese men, women and children and they suffered as did their surviving children and family. Who were the heroes? Those invaders (who were also murderers)of a foreign land, who happened to be captured and refused to give information, and were tortured; or the courageous men with far less advanced weapons who defended their homes and families from foreign invaders? You look at the world from the lens of a propaganda media that most people can now see through, and support and glamorize American murderers. In the Nuremberg trials, "just following orders" didnt cut it. Denton and Stockdale I am sure were "Just following orders"

From page 119-“Physicians for Human Rights” reported in April 2005: “At least since April 2002, the United States has been engaged in systematic psychological torture of Guantanamo detainees.” The prison camp had 520 prisoners from forty nations that have been held incommunicado for more than three years, with no charges stated against them. Many of them were physically abused. Regarding Abu Gharib prison - US intelligence officers estimated to the Red Cross that 70%-90% of the prisoners were held by “mistake”. In 2005, it was reported by military officials that at least 108 prisoners had died in American custody in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other secret locations since 2002, and acknowledged at least 28 to be homicide. Only one homicide was in Ghraib. You will perceive that prisoner abuse is widespread, not limited to a few rogue military personnel actions. Our military dutifully obeys wicked evil policies of their “superiors.” After visiting six of the twenty-five US prisons, the International Committee of the Red Cross reported that there were 107 detainees under the age of eighteen, some as young as eight years old. In May of 2005, journalist Seymour Hersh reported that defense secretary Rumsfeld had received a report that 800 to 900 Pakistani boys 13 to 15 years old were in custody. The International Red Cross, Amnesty International, and the pentagon gathered testimonies of tortured children, confirmed by soldiers who had witnessed or participated in the abuse; physical and mental mistreatment. Physicians for Human Rights reported in April 2005-“At least since 2002, the United States has been engaged in systematic psychological torture of Guantanamo detainees.” “Human Rights First” released a report in March 2005 stating that detainees in US custody in Iraq and Afghanistan grew in the preceding six months from six thousand to eleven thousand. The secrecy surrounding American detention camps intensified. I recall the mainstream media reporting “waterboarding” of a few “terrorists” under Bush’s presidency. Most people were ambivalent to it, as 9-11 was still considered to have been executed by Muslim terrorists. Our reaction should now be, in my estimation, outrage. Kahn, Michael Lewis. ANGRY LOUD AND CLEAR TRUTH SECOND IMPROVED EDITION: THE GROWTH AND MECHANISMS OF THE ROMERICAN EMPIRE (pp. 118-119). Kindle Edition. By the way, in that book I prove that every politician in DC was complicit to 9-11 demolition job. They were all involved and had planned for it.

You could do much better than saying that signing the Honor code is 'something you've got to do, or you don't get to stay' and it is a 'resurrection from the 19th century.' Why not present the Honor Code as an anchor point for intellectual growth? Present it as a bond with your fellow students, who are here to learn as well. To learn what? You tell me.

THe bible's Jesus was a hypocrite. IN Matthew 23, he rails against the pharisees (rabbis and governors- the pharisees were the rulers who also were the religious teachers)calling them serpents, blind guides, hypocrites, and whitewashed tombs eaten with worms, then he says render unto Caesar and unto God-=pay taxes and tithes. He was no revolutionary, he was a cowardly hypocrite- teaching to give hard-earned money to the invading occupation forces and to terrible religious pompous asses. THe bible also tells us in Romans 13 and in 1Peter 2 that the governors are placed by God, and to honor and obey them.. Name one good politician. IN six places in the new testament it says "slaves, obey your masters no matter how wicked they are" - a book that promotes slavery is disqualified as a measure of moral code. Your college either doesn't think well, or is unethical from its foundations, or is ignorant. Which is it?

Mr Kahn....you have missed the point of this discussion and you miss the point(s) of Jesus' teaching. But by all means continue standing on your soapbox and one day soon you will find yourself standing alone as people walk past you and ignore your rants.

@@groth3395 I use this analogy often. If the devil came in a red suit and horns and a pitchfork you would run. But if he came in a designer suit, was well groomed, he smiles, looks in your eyes, shakes your hand and tells you he is there to help you, you might love him. Appearances can be deceptive. College is about honor? Teaching about how to profit the rich is most college's agenda. I am hoping this one is different. Any college would say that they are. Snakes all of them.

@@groth3395 YOu made a claim. Support it please. What is your take on tithing and taxing? Jesus also went into the temple with a whip and overturned tables calling it a den of thieves. But then he tells you to tithe. YOU tell me, Einstein, how am I wrong, what is the REAL meaning of the directions to render unto Caesar and god?

@@groth3395 funny, but I am known all over the world and heralded as a thought leader. I do live alone and work alone. I do not work and strive to gain compliments or money or fame. I work to save humanity, to do what is right. I guess John the Baptist should not have been ranting about righteousness. He died alone. And ignore me? I am probably the most influential man on the planet. I have more confidence in humanity than you do- you think people will ignore me if I criticize them. I do it to change attitudes and mindsets and values. And have been successful in a huge way.....millions have left the church. Show me how I am wrong and we will discuss it. Otherwise shut up, you are simply trying to defend the indefensible- you don't care if you are right or wrong, you just want to be affirmed. I will not affirm mistakes and stubbornness, nor will I believe a book that promotes slavery and says that God puts the most corrupt bought evil people in power and that we are supposed to honor and obey them. the bible has everything to do with this message, and my comment does also. What kind of honor is it to follow a book of lies and wrong values because billions of others do, and it is widely accepted? Your paradigm and accepted mind-frame is built on a foundation of straw. Defend yourself or be seen for what it appears that you are- a fart.
