29:18 So, Armstrong tried to strong arm Jackson? Tut tut.

Great lecture. Entertaining and enlightening. I appreciate the balance of the good and the bad, and some context. I appreciate critical thinking instead of the all-too-common, simple-minded, single variable judgement.

If I had more colorful storytelling genre teachers like professor Bradley Birzer back in my day I may have become one myself or remained in school to this day 7 decades later...☺ Thank you Hillsdale for bringing this fine fellow in for everyone to enjoy immensely !☺

I actually took two classes with Dr. Birzer. His lectures were always packed with stories and knowledge. The Jacksonian America class that he speaks of in the beginning of this lecture was one of my first American History courses. I have admired Jackson ever since!

A lot of Kentuckians at the battle of New Orleans too. Like Ephraim Brank, who struck fear into the Brits.

My son is named Andrew Jackson Pilgrim. That should tell you how I feel about General Jackson.

As anyone that has seen Stagecoach knows, wayne;s character was the Ringo Kid and "my right name is Henry."

I liked Jackson when I first learned he proudly “killed the bank,” like a vampire slayer. Now I like him for many more reasons. Too bad .02% of Americans will ever hear this talk and know more of what the man was like. I think I’ll seek a biography of Jackson.

Emm. Didn't kill the bank due to him disliking it. Killed it because of who's in charge of it. More of a personal hate.

Andrew Jackson was an absolute mad lad for sure.

This is a wonderful talk. I have followed a similar glide path re: Jackson. Being a supporter of Henry Clay's views, I always opposed Jackson and confessed my bias to my students. But in writing my novel about the 1812 war (Honor and Destiny), my young man is a currier in the Battle of New Orleans and I had to come to understand Jackson. Everything you say about the battle is spot on and Jackson was unquestionably a great general. I still side with Clay on the bank, but I now have some positive things to teach my students about Jackson.

Too much B.S. in the beginning. If you got something to say just get on with it and cut the hype.
