My sisters and I have been there several times. Two years ago, we took an early walk on the beach and saw a sea turtle laying her eggs in the sand. They have a turtle crew who watches and protects them while they are laying the eggs. The crew takes measurements of her and after she leaves, they dig up her eggs and re-bury them in a safer place nearby, off the beaten path. It was exciting to watch the turtle doing her thing. I'm glad you had a good time.

Many beaches along the NC Atlantic coastline protect the turtles, her eggs, & the hatchlings until they are safely in the sea. It is a very rewarding feeling to be able to watch the babies, instinctively, be drawn to the water, & swim away. (If interested, you can see in videos on utube.) The pretty, dark pink tree you commented on is a crepe myrtle, sometimes called, “the tree of 100 days”, because it blooms June thru September. Many colors, from pink to dark red & white to purple. Enjoyed your quick, but long, trip!

When a company changes packaging, or updates the upc or things like that, the retailer will get credit to put it on clearance to get the old stuff off the shelves. Or it may be a product they are not going to stock anymore.

I love Hilton Head. My husband and I have been driving down from Canada to the island, since before we were married in 1994. We were just there this past April. I never get tired of it. The food, the beaches, the history, and the scenery. I was barbed by a stingray in Hilton Head in 2011. I had waded into the water and was only up to my knees when I stepped on one that was hidden in the sand. A trip to the hospital and a very uncomfortable ride back to Canada. Now when I go into the water, I do the stingray shuffle. This stops you from stepping on them and it allows the stingrays to get out of your way. P.S if you get barbed put very hot water on it. It kills the toxin.

Been there twice... And never saw the main Atlantic... I Only saw the waterway on the northwest side of the Island and where y'all crossed at... Why not? Cause I'm stupid... Well, the first time I was there I flew into Savannah Georgia, and the guy that was building a house on Hilton Head picked me up at the airport... I was there to measure for a handrail inside his mansion... I spent most of the day taking notes and making templates. We went to eat lunch and I got a chance to witness to him, which was something you don't usually do if that person is a client and you are not the owner of the company... Lol... Oh well, I did anyhow, but it me blessing our food that opened up the opportunity... Something to think about... By the end of the day, I had all my stuff together and ready to head back to airport... I knew that I hadn't seen the Atlantic, but told myself I don't have time and I'll see it when I come back to put up the rails... So l left... Now take in mind, it took me 4 months to build this handrail, and I couldn't just drive to the house if I just wanted to check a measurement... I was in Memphis, and that's Hilton Head, and I got one shot to get this right... It's 70 feet of handrail between 1st and 2nd floors, at two opposite ends of this mansion... A right hand side, and a left hand side... So I was constantly nervous for 4 months straight. So when I drove back to install it, I was only thinking about whether or not it will fit... Our hotel was on the beach, and it was late when we got in, so I said to myself, I'll walk to the front of the hotel in the morning and check out the ocean... But it didn't happen... I was even more nervous the next morning... So we went straight to the house and went to work... 3 days of working and it was finally finished... Fit perfectly... So relieved, we just loaded up and headed home and this time I was almost to Atlanta when thought about the ocean... Take in mind, I was at hotel for 3 days and never walked about 50 yrs to the front side of hotel, and I could have taken short cut through the lobby... So don't put stuff off... Wish you could have seen this handrail... The owner told my boss that it was the only thing in the entire house that his wife was satisfied with... So thanks for sharing y'alls trip to the Hilton Head beach with us Austin and Corie, cause I've never seen it, until now... 😁👍👍❤❤❤ Praying for the whole family constantly... 😔🙏❤❤❤

Hilton Head was planned to have a more natural setting and to be more laid back than most beach areas. It's a great place to bicycle ride also, with plenty of biking and walking trails. I remember going to Hilton Head with my dad starting back in the late 60s. We subbed work from Hargray Telephone Company, mainly climbing their microwave transmission tower, which is no longer there, to maintain it. Back then, Hwy 278 was two lanes and the bridge to the island was a two lane draw bridge. Not much traffic then compared to the traffic nightmare that exists today.
