It really is like that with opiates, the forbidden love that's both hell and heaven at the same time. Many HIM songs are about that subject... Join Me In Death, Poison Girl, When Love and Death Embrace, Killing Loneliness etc. In fact, many artists describe opiate addiction as a romantic relationship that is, literally, toxic to the user, because that's what it feels like. When you're falling in love, or having ssex, it's endorphine (i.e. endogenic morphine) that is released in your brain. Doing heroin or other opiates, basically is injecting yourself with artificial love.
