Nahi, guide ki zarurat nahi. Vaapsi Galu devi hokar aane mei bhi koi issue nahi. Yes you can take your own tent, but Triund mei camping band hai. Aapko kisi base site ke aaspaas set karna padega (and safe bhi rahega). You can set up tents in Katharni (where we stayed) or the one just near Triund.
