I live in Germany, in Bayern region, yesterday i was hitchiking with couple of friends and we came to some thing that looks like a big wall with holes in it. When i say big it means a 200-300 meters long and 3 meter high. We ask locals and they told us it was a underground compleks, and there is a house in witch nazi generals were hiding at the end of the war. And few minute later we found this house, there is a big stone on witch is writen in german that in this house this generals were here when american soliders cought them. I did not have my phone with me to take a picture,i want to do it today, but it takes 4 hours walking up the mountain,so i did not go, he he, Sory for my english

I live there - Kętrzyn [Rastenburg] in Poland, 30 km from that place. - but wait... there's more! Gierłoż - Wolfschanze and Mamerki - Mauerwald. My friend's grandma used to live in Pozezdrze. There was a lot of legends about underground tunnels and Germans or "Hitlerowcy" - [Hitler's men] still guarding them, treasures and weapons. Adults always told us to never go to them places - when I was young my cat went there and never came out! Back in the 80's/90's in EVERY Polish village you could have met some old man bragging about the last days of war and some German trucks trying to escape through the frozen lake ;-) That car is still there, boys :-D Sometimes it wasn't a truck but SS-Mann on a horse. @@thomaswolf2896 It was either 85 or 86 - the building was restored or at least working (I was about 12 or 13 back then) - my parents sent me to a sailing school/camp. I was supposed to go back there the following year, but apparently during the winter the heating failed, water froze in the pipes and burst causing flooding and damage. The building was falling into disrepair since then. It is very unfortunate, that in spite of many years, no organisation was able to restore it. It would be now a wonderful hotel with a huge natural park behind the building.

Thank you Mr. Felton. Last year, during my yachting trip, I've visited Hitler's mammoth bunkers. Now I have a proper excuse to explore the area some more. Also, some cheap and good beer near the bunkers... and good food in port towns like Sztynort, Okartowo and Mikołajki. A lot of history and a lot of fun during summer time.

From all accounts, the Wolf's Lair was one of the most unpleasant places to live-freeing cold in Winter, hot and humid with mosquitoes in summer. Note that Hitler and his staff never dressed down-always in full uniform in that summer heat.

get your history right.. these areas became Polish after September, 1945 , effective date, after the Potsdam Treaty. At the time frame Himmler was there they had been German for over 800 years. At the time frame you refer to there was nothing Polish about them. The meeting took place in GERMAN East Prussia. Poland was a occupied neighbouring country at that time. By the time these areas went to Poland in allied revenge all these participants were dead so therefore your mention of Poland is highly inaccurate. By the way I work in one of the preeminent history institutes worldwide. I ought to know. R.

Yes, it would be great if there was more research into the Charismatic Indian revolutionary leader Bose's escape & travel to Germany & then returning back via a German U-Boat to Singapore (then under Japanese control) & raising an Army of Indian POWs (in Japanese hands) to go fight the British Colonialists in Burma! Many may not know but Bose, not Nehru (India's first PM in 1947) was the more popular & elected leader of Indian National Congress but was done-in by internal machinations of Nehru & Gandhi's stup*d / dangerous non-violence philosophy. It was the final actions, trial of Bose's Army in Delhi that led to the revolt of the Indian sailors in Indian navy Bombay (1946) - that finally convinced the British to leave "honorably" before they got booted out anyhow by the Indians.

5:41 The guy to the right of Himmler (Black coat and glasses) is Subhash Chandra Bose. He was an Indian Freedom Fighter who unlike Gandhi was willing use violence to expel the British from India. Here, in this meeting he was discussing the plans of a possible German intervention. His story is fascinating and should be checked out. He even had a German wife during that time (Amidst Nuremberg laws).
