My band opened for Hinder a couple weeks ago in Ky. Man, they were the most down to earth, professional group of guys we’ve played with. After the show they invited us down to a bar with them to have a burger and some beers. Not only were the band members nice, their tour manager and drum tech was top notch as well. We hope to get to play for those guys again!

Hinder is still one of my favorite bands. American Nightmare and Freakshow are easily as strong as their first two. I go 9 songs deep on both of them. Smoke Clears and The Reign are not as great but are still good for 6 strong songs each. I've got a 65+ song Hinder playlist that I enjoy. I saw them in 2019 with Saving Abel and both bands freaking rocked. Hinder is just straight-up hard rock. They have great raunchy songs and also some good introspective songs.

Am I the only one who likes all their albums? It is strange that fans hate them so much since they got a new singer. I have heard of Hinder on the radio around 2007. But I finally really discovered them around 10 years later, when they already had the new singer. What can I say? I like both! They are still heavy and make great music. New singer has a good voice too. They sound different, yes, but not worse. Maybe they should have changed their name, but I really don't get the hate. TBH I think lyric wise they are much better since the new singer! The old songs were like 100% typical rock music in a nutshell. The first albums sounded like all classic rock and modern rock was put together into something mainstream, but yet edgy, and very catchy with perfect sound. But unfortunetly also the lyrics were like that. What I mean by that are those cliche lyrics and topics that all the bigh rockstars from the 70s and 80s used before. You know, the sex, drugs and rocknroll type of shit. Lips of an angel is a perfect example for that. Yeah, if an AI would create a 100% typical cliche rockband and song with good sound, it would probably be Lips of an angel. And as I said, I really dig the sound. They sounded so well. But tbh I find those lyrics a bit disgusting. A song about cheating for a blowjob? Oh come on! Why is trash like that even allowed to be in the charts?! Unfortunately they had lots of songs about drugs, drinking, cheating and sex. To me that is a bit primitive and of course it was part of their typical rockstar image, but I don't really like people like that. To me their old songs are those type of songs that sound good and feel good, but you should not really listen to the lyrics. I am not surprised Austin left to go to rehab. This had to happen to a notorious party guy like him. And it is really sad. But: When they got the new singer, I think they got much more mature and grown, especially lyricwise. I never found myself in their first 3 albums, they were just fun to listen. But since When the smoke clears, I can actually identify with some songs. They are not about drugs and party anymore, they are much more serious and I really like that! Dead To Me,Rather Hate Than Hurt, Nothing Left To Lose... these are all songs that could be by myself. Soundwise they are a bit different, but not worse. Also not better, just different. To me they are still as good and I really don't get all the hate. They don't deserve that. I think their fans are too stuck in the past and they should finally move on. Linkin Park got a new singer too, even a woman and everybody loves it. Including myself, lol. And I don't understand why one band is hated for having a new singer, and the other one is not. A band that first comes to my mind when thinking about who's albums got worse and worse is Maroon 5. They didn't even change their singer, but they got lame and too electronic. That's why I don't like them. Hinder still rocks, just rocks different and I still like it. Btw. You should really listen to the 2 new singles: Live without it and Everything is a cult. They are both bangers and just awesome!
@brianjones19684 ай бұрын
One point to note is that at the 9:38 mark you flash a band photo that includes an entirely different singer, Nolan Neal, whom passed away 2 years ago this month. Nice blend of information and opinion. Like most people here, I wondered what became of them too, because like you said, that first release was amazing. And yeah, keeping in line with a fan base in music is beyond hard, as shown by how many bands actually succeed at doing it. Writing hit songs is so hard that even the greatest musicians are excited to have 2 on each album out of 8-12 songs. It's also crazy hard to predict what will click and won't with audience. Being a pro is showing up and doing the job right, being a star requires magic. It looks like they ran out of magic. Bummer.

I agree with you. I was never a huge fan of them, but there were some songs off that first album that I really liked. Cody (drummer) is my extended family cousin. I grew up with him and when my mom found out about it, I had to have a really uncomfortable conversation with her. I was an adult at the time so, not a big deal. I had a really embarrassing moment one night though, because I live a block from the Tulsa state fairgrounds and I was in my backyard one night and I heard Lips of an Angel being played. At first I got kind of excited and started looking up online who was playing. Right before I found out, I said, “This has to be the worst cover band I’ve ever heard”, to my friend and found out it was them. They’re playing again tonight for the final day of the fair, so we’ll see how that goes.
