That blade is called spanto. Its a mix between tanto an spear point. Basically a spear point with tanto grinds. Mr. Hinderer designed that blade shape

They say the new V3 has all the problems corrected . The new V3 IS available on knife center with textured handles. Btw, Hinderer knives is one of the big kings in the knife industry, he does mostly folding knives. He claimed he started the hobby back in the 1900s making balisongs. I have a few of his folders and really am impressed by it. He listens to his customers a lot as well hence why there's a new V3 Nieves.
