True...💯 Learning about computer science, having a deep knowledge of networking and how the internet works, basics about operating systems (like Linux) and programming logics, are the key prerequisites for getting into cyber. Speaking from my experience, DO NOT jump directly into cyber security.

If it's about learning different operating system, and if you have limited hardware, then you can use dual boot. Otherwise VM is best for exploring and learning new OS without affecting your real system. If it's about practicing hacking attacks, then VM, for security concerns.
