Peebles Burgh Silver Band plays Hine e Hine in the courtyard of Neidpath Castle by the River Tweed in the borders of Scotland. "Hine E Hine" is a lullaby in Māori written by Fanny Howie in around 1907.
Peter Graham arranged this beautiful New Zealand melody which features flugel to begin, rises to a full band climax and fades into the distance.
Flugels are basically a bugle with valves, related to the signal horn (a bugle used to signal in battle). It looks very much like a large trumpet or cornet. The word flugel comes from the German word for flank and derives from its use to summon flanks during battle.
