In my opinion, rap has always been evolving-from the '70s and '80s to the '90s, early 2000s, 2010, 2015, and 2019. Every era brought something new. Back when it first started, it was all about party and dance music at block parties. That’s what hip-hop was-just vibes and fun, with DJs spinning records and people dancing. It wasn’t so much about deep bars or storytelling yet; it was more about getting everyone moving. Honestly, if you look at it today, artists now are really bringing that back. People think the essence of hip-hop is just about bars, but it's not-it’s about creating a vibe, making music people can enjoy, dance to, and feel good about. If you think about it, artists like Uzi, Playboi Carti, and even Travis Scott are more connected to the original spirit of hip-hop than people realize because their music is all about energy, just like the block party days. Even Lil Tecca with his upbeat melodies, or Lil Baby and Roddy Ricch, who blend trap with catchy hooks, are closer to the roots of hip-hop than they get credit for. It’s not all about storytelling with them, it’s about creating a mood, something you can vibe to. This new wave of melodic trap and rage is just the latest evolution in that same direction. So people who say hip-hop now is cooked are missing the point-hip-hop’s always been about more than one thing. As time went on, yeah, lyricism and storytelling became a huge part of rap, and that’s when we got legends like Nas, Tupac, Biggie, and Rakim. They brought raw, unfiltered stories about life, struggles, and the streets, and that was super important because it showed that hip-hop could be more than just party music. This era laid the foundation for people like Polo G, Lil Tjay, and Roddy Ricch, who use their music to talk about their pain, the streets, and real life. They’re carrying on that lyrical tradition blended with emotional melodic trap beats , but the game has shifted again. Fast forward to now, and we’re seeing another shift. Artists like Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely are pushing the rage sound, and that’s closer to the party and dance vibe hip-hop started with. Uzi, Carti, and Travis Scott can hang with that because they know how to adapt. But it makes you wonder-can someone like Polo G, Lil Tjay, or even Roddy Ricch keep up? They’ve mastered melodic trap, but how long can they live off that sound? Even Tecca, who people don’t talk about as much, has been able to switch it up by playing with different sounds, like underground beats, melodic trap, and even dancehall. At the end of the day, I think Polo, Tjay, and Roddy will be fine because they’re still young and talented, and they haven’t fully hit their peak yet. Even if the melodic trap era fades out, they can adapt. Like, I could see Tjay and Boogie hopping on the Jersey wave with people like Cash Cobain and fitting right in. Polo might want to stick with the sound he had on the *Hood Poet* intro because a lot of people liked that direction. In the end, though, the rappers who last are the ones who can evolve with the times while staying true to their roots. That’s why artists like Kanye, Drake, and Uzi are still relevant-they know how to reinvent themselves while "sort of" keeping the core of what made them great. So, even if some people think hip-hop now is "cooked," it’s really just changing, like it always has. If Polo, Boogie, and Tjay keep experimenting and finding new lanes to stay fresh, they’ll be alright.

@@footballisalligot music is a form of poetry smartass music is supposed to be about expressing your emotions and connecting with the listener. Both lyrics and the sound should be good for a song to be considered good. Nowadays y’all be hyping up mediocre artists who got no substance in their music

Old heads like Future, Drake, Nicki, Cole, Kanye and Kendrick really been allowed to stay at the top for many years too long. Travis the bridge. Time for labels & fans to dump talents like Roddy, Kodak, Polo ect and invest in talent ready to challenge for those spots.
