Former NYPD detective and "Hip-Hop Cop" Derrick Parker shared his thoughts on the Jam Master Jay murder case with VladTV, and he revealed that it may be solved despite 15 years going by. He explained that lack of witness cooperation and corroboration of evidence slowed the case down, but Parker now believes he knows who murdered the Run DMC legend.

Man, I can relate to bring burned out. I worked from 1995-1997 for nypd transit police (back in the 80s and 90s if you didn’t have at least 60 college credits or you didn’t have a family member who had some clout with FDNY the only way a person aka me could become a nyc firefighter was to take both police officer and firefighter civil service tests. Nypd is the only agency that will call you and start screening. Long story short You start the police academy and the day you start the police academy that time counts towards your 20 year retirement. Then do 2 years with nypd and stay out of trouble and the spotlight. Then take the next civil service test for nyc firefighter and your name will be at the top of the list because of nypd veterans credit. And as long as you kept your nose clean and literally had a stellar attendance record with nypd I guarantee you will be in probe school at FDNY within a year of being called off the list from the 2nd firefighter civil service test you took. Because you have to understand that FDNY has 30k applicants who pay $50 (idk what it costs now. I retired a few years ago when I hit my 20 year point) to take this open competitive civil service test when the are really only looking to hire 500 people for one probe class. So beck then you needed a “back door entrance” into FDNY and nypd was the way in. But I can definitely feel where this guy is coming from because even tho I was assigned to transit district 33 in east New York (I went through the academy back when transit was its own agency) and it was literally the police departments best kept secret. A good bunch of men and women to work with. Everyone loved each other there was no back stabbing and we all did our job and went home. I can literally say that I never used force against another person aside from making an occasional arrest. But still that job wasn’t for me. But as soon as the mayor merged transit with regular nypd we started getting all the racist hot head rejects that were booted out of every house they ever worked in. And that’s when transit Pd really started to decline. I knew good men of all races who had 25+ years on and where there because they loved the job. They loved the neighborhood and were there as more of a social thing then work. These are the guys who mentioned me while I was there. And I credit these old timers with the fact that I never ever had to pull my gun from my holster while I was on duty. But these guys put their papers in and retired just as soon as racist brass was transferred in from the regular nypd houses. I had to endear 7 month of that shit until FDNY called me to start probe school where I finished out the rest of my 20 years at E283 in Brownsville Brooklyn and I loved every day of work from there on out. But I can definitely relate to this man and what he had to go through. Because as a Caucasian who is married to an amazing African American woman at the time I was a police officer she was my girlfriend and I had to deal with the jokes and once I almost lost my job because I threw a coffee at one of my lieutenants because he pushed me with the black jokes. But I thank God that’s all behind me.
