Having been around country for so many decades, it takes a special voice to stop us in our tracks. Anything Sara will blow you away! CMT used to have a show called “Crossroads”. It would pair a rock group with Country artists. Sara Evans with 3 Doors Down performing “Here without you” is a musical masterpiece.

David Alan Coe's "Cheap Thrills" is a rather funky and enjoyable song from the 70s/80s. However, if you'd like to go even further back, you wouldn't be misstepping by giving a listen to either Wanda Jackson's song "I Cried Again" or Jim and Jesse's "I Want to be Loved"

I got into trouble when I was a radio dj after his because I played 'Cheap Thrills' way too often. 🤠The program director came into the studio, took the 45 vinyl (this was a long time ago) out of its slot, and told me that he liked the song too, but that I was only allowed to play it once a show.🤣

Roots music is 'Americana' -a style incorporating early blues, country, folk, RnB and rock influences. Definition of Roots music is 'traditional music of a particular geographic region or cultural group'. By the way, Rihanna plays a mean banjo!
