New Year’s day is sort of like the ending of how she felt during that time that she wrote the album. it kind of started out as super angry and gives off sort of a « revenge » vibe. then in the middle it’s more about her finding love and at the end it’s like her settling down with him and finding peace. it’s like a story from beginning to end :)

Nice rx! It’s a love album, no breakup songs. It’s edgy, heavy beat drops, but the lyrics are about meeting Joe, beginning to date Joe. The insecurities, infatuation, the excitement of a beginning relationship. Reputation tells the story. NY Day is telling us that after they”party” or the entire story of the album, she has found someone she wants to clean up with in the morning. After the story of the album, the end is with her being in love. No breakup songs again. She loved and left a few along the way, but in the end of the album she is in love with Joe. Lover picks up where Reputation leaves off, with her being in love. It’s very poppy. It has some songs I don’t like but some songs I absolutely love. It’s all over the place for me but it’s about all kinds of love not just romantic love. No breakup songs. She left those on 1989 and said no more, I’m gonna write about love. Because she finally has someone worth writing about. Then you’ll be ready for 2020... folklore. You need to hit that before the Grammy’s in 3 weeks. Good luck!!!!

There is one breakup song on Lover, Death by A Thousand Cuts. It’s on there to prove that she could still write break up songs after she was actually happy, it’s talked about more in her Tiny Desk performance.

The song "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" is about the relationship between Taylor and Kanye starting from the VMA's in 2009 to the time she forgave him and they were supposed to be friends and what he did to her with the song he claimed she approved the lyrics to, but he never let her know ALL the lyrics and he secretly recorded their phone conversation on video with audio and Kim edited the video to make it look and sound like Taylor knew the whole song when she did not. Just last year around May the whole truth came out because someone in Kanye's circle released the entire recording showing Kim and Kanye were the snakes. Some people suspect that Kim's mother did it because the new season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians was being released a week later.
