I'm 65, and grew up on Iron Maiden. 45 Years of recording and touring. When they first came out the radio stations wouldn't even play their music. One of the greatest metal touring bands in musical history. And they have NEVER been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And that's a CRYING shame. They have their own airplane and the lead singer Bruce Dickinson is the pilot. Great reaction man. Welcome to the metal world.

Would you believe they sound even better live so try to react to live versions. I would suggest on your own time looking at Hallowed be thy name from Hammersmith 1982. Other classics as Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Fear of the Dark, Dance of Death, Paschendale, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Clansman, Aces High, Revelations, Number of the Beast, Alexander the Great (Studio). Fantastic reaction!👍 With many Iron Maiden songs, you get an accurate history lesson. The Trooper tells the account of a British soldier in the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War. Lord Cardigan led the British cavalry against Russian forces during this battle on 25 October 1854. Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions. However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a suicide mission charging straight at heavy Russian artillery which cost the lives of over a hundred British soldiers. Alfred Lord Tennyson write a poem to commemorate this disaster and he called it The Charge of the Light Brigade. Other great Iron Maiden history lessons you could check out.... Run to the Hills, Alexander the Great, Paschendale and Empire of the Clouds. I've been a Maiden fan since hearing their debut album in 1980 when I was 10. I've seen them live every time they've played in London, their home ground, and they never disappoint. Up the Irons!!!

Maiden lost a guitarist, recruited a new one, old one came back and they decided to keep all 3. It's their signature sound with 3 harmonizing guitars. I would recommend their more recent live concerts anywhere from 10 years ago to today because of the 3 guitars. They are one of the few bands that have gotten better with time and they are way better today then back in the 80's. Any song is worth a listen as it all sounds the same. They don't do acoustic, ballads, etc.. it's all straight up the same power rock and every song is great. Kind of like AC/DC or Megadeth, they don't stray to far from the formula. Pick any recent concert and have a go.

I started listening to Maiden in '83 (I was 13) when this was released. I have seen Maiden in the 80's, 90's, 2000's, 2010's - not yet in the 2020's, but it will happen. Their discography is like the playlist to my life - just so ingrained in who I am. I love all kinds of metal but Maiden is #1 without a doubt. As they are considered to be amongst the godfathers of metal - they have shaped a whole bunch of bands in their 4+ decades of music. You found a good one checking these guys out. Iron Maiden is the best live band ever. One of the early, and most influential metal bands. I saw them for the first time right after The Number of the Beast was released and many times since. They are still killing it. Might try Fear of the Dark live in Rio.

I've seen them many times in Los Angeles in icluding the night filmed The Live After Death Tour at The Long Beach Arena. AC/DC is my faqvorite band but Iron Maiden killed it that night. I still have my intact -with a few holes- Concert Shirt from that night. Concert Video is called LIVE AFTER DEATH filmed over 4 nights in LA ( 3 original nights plus 1 added due to demand) Unfortunately, they cut out Dave Murray's solo which happened as a transition at the end of POWERSLAVE with the "EGYPTIAN" tunig still in effect and straight into The Star Spangeled Banner (Fucking Crazy!) We Yankees lost our shit! Bruce kept telling us to "Scream for Me Long Beach"!!! and I did til I lost my voice! Amazing night! ALL first five Studio Album & LIVE AFTER DEATH deserve their own LIVESTREAM

Metal will surprise you with the many and I mean many bands who sing about deep and meaningful things. Sure their are cheesy cars and girls bands but so much of metal is very impactful in its meanings. Iron Maiden is classic metal, other classic can’t miss metal bands are Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Dio. Metallica is a genre called thrash which also includes another can’t miss in Megadeth. Currently I am in total love with the Ukrainian band Jinjer and the Japanese all female metal band, Nemophila.

That was a great choice to start down the Maiden road. Powerslave would be a good. You should also check out Nightwish-Romanticide would be a good start with that band try the live at Wacken version. Plus reacting to some Nightwish will help your subs take off for sure.
