Hip-Hop & Mindfulness with GI and Mitchellangelo

GI started composing/producing music and writing songs at 15. At 16, for his work experience he spent two weeks in Abbey Studios, Dublin 1 and learned first hand what a professional set up looked like and the process of recording through hardware and software systems. At 17 he was selected to be a part of a show called Hip Nós where the blend of Hip Hop and Sean Nós singing was combined. The show went to New York for 6 days and played a show in the Barrow Street Theatre, Manhattan. The show went on to be a success selling out Vicar St, Axis Theatre and attracted cameos such as Des Bishop and US actor Carlos Andres Gomes. Continuing to grow the show branched off to South Africa and incorporated break dancers from Cape Town and toured to South Africa where the show also played. GI went to college after completing his leaving certificate to start a sound engineering course where he covered live engineering, studio engineering and music production. At 17 he was recruited by Lunitic founder of Workin Class Records along with Costello to form a group called Street Literature consisting of Lunitic, 4Real, Costello, GI & Dj Moschops. They were in the process of making their debut album and Lunitic tragically died in 2009. The album wasn't released until 2010 the weekend the group headlined with US supergroup Wu Tang Clan in Tripod, Dublin 2. From there he has composed/produced numerous critically acclaimed albums and featured as an artist on many of them projects. He has worked with various UK and US artists such as Tesla's Ghost, Dá Flyy Hooligan, Cyrus Malachi, Estee Nack, Purpose,Lord Willin, Maverick Sabre, etc. In 2012 GI produced Lethal Dialects album LD50 II and Costello's Illosophical both were voted Number 1 & Number 6 in the Irish Sun Newspapers Top 10 albums of the year. Collectively GI's catalogue of music, videos and live performances have been streamed over 1.2 million times on KZbin & over a million times on Bandcamp. In 2015 his lung collapsed and twice in 2016 which kept him away from live performance up until 2020. During this time off he kept busy under a different alias, to explore different genres stemming from his love for house, drum and bass, breakbeat, techno and various other genres. With this, Bobby Tuna, a character from GIs Hip hop chronicles based on Robert Platshorn in the 1970s, was brought back to life as his alias for Electronic music as opposed to GI from his grimy and deep hip hop beats. Under the alias Bobby Tuna, he has has 2 tracks feature in Emily Dawsons Showcase in the 2021 New York Fashion Week, and has had multiple tracks signed with labels from Manchester, Brazil to Chicago. Film/Documentary Two film documentaries were made about the members' music both including GI, which got national coverage and has been premiered internationally in countries such as Germany, Russia, Austria, Italy, Australia, etc
