I'm trying to play it but i'm not in tune, I don't understand, of course my bass is tuned but as I play the octave it doesn't sound right but the tenth doesn't even Is the original song tuned in a specific way ?

Great question! One thing to always remember in these throwback hip hop tracks is that the hardware samplers they used had limitations. One of those limitations is the fact that tempo and Pitch were intricately linked in these machines. In order to get certain parts of the song to loop, they had change the pitch in order to change the tempo so that the loop would be in perfect time. As a result, there are some tracks that are a fraction of a fraction of a semitone off, and it'll drive you nuts if you don't understand what's going on or trying to be a music theory purist lol. Another example of this is Method Man's track called Shadowboxing. That song almost made me buckle until I took RZA's production style into account 😂. In summary, as you get used to hearing intervals, you'll already know what the movement is and won't get thrown off by the hip hop science behind it. Hope that helps, thank you for tuning in! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
